Title: dweez's new toys (Music edition)
Post by: dweez on September 06, 2017, 07:23:37 PM
Well, I've been debating this purchase for a short while now. I've played music for several years (trumpet/trombone/baritone/tuba in high school concert/marching band and guitar church and my enjoyment) and for the longest time now have only had a 12-string Ovation guitar that has been strung as a 6-string to play with.

I just pulled the trigger on a Yamaha SLG200S Steel String Silent Guitar Tobacco Sunburst (https://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical_instruments/guitars_basses/silent_guitar/slg200_series/index.html). It might be more than my hobbyist tenancies needs but it feeds the "cool, gadgety" beast within.

Ordering it online would have cost $629.99 (why do they still do $x.99 amounts?!?) but I called directly and asked about a discount and got it for $556.54.

Now I just have to wait the 4-6 (excruciatingly long) days until it arrives.

It looks like a fish... I've never seen that instrument before

More "musicians" should have silent instruments.

I don't like this statement, but it's hard to argue the logic.

I have some silent bag pipes... Want to hear them? ;D

Nice Dweez but can you play it? Didn't happen unless you video it ;)

We'll see. :-D

that is a minimalist work of art not a guitar

It looks frightening to be honest.

I play the piano a little but tend to think the keyboards are poor substitutes for hammers and strings. In truth, that is probably an excuse I use for hitting the wrong notes as my Yamaha P150 is beautifully weighted and has a wonderful sound. If that guitar sounds a good as it looks then I dare say it's a bargain.

PS. I don't play wrong notes. They are all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order.

No true artist (pronounced AR-teest) is appreciated in his own time.

... yup. There it's "flipping you the bird".

Which again has all sorts of other meanings over here.

Do you play any musical instruments, christ? I would think you may know your way around a harp.

Do they make an iHarp?

Just want to point out that the "bird" in question looks suspiciously like a "C add9" chord. Just sayin'.

Yeah, probably more middling.
