PS3 $299
« on: September 02, 2009, 07:16:18 PM »
Quote
After months of rumors and speculation, the company finally made official news of a brand new version of its PlayStation 3 console during a game convention in Germany on Tuesday. Called the "PlayStation Slim," the new system is due to release in North America and Europe on September 1 for $299 and ?299, respectively. The price cut is immediate, however, meaning the soon-to-be-replaced 80 GB PlayStation 3 currently on store shelves is now only $299 as well.

Awesome. I was just talking with a friend today about how it wasn't worth getting a ps3 at this point in time for many reasons. Looks like I'll have to scratch out "overpriced" from the list. Also, it that a concept or an official/confirmed/final model?

looks neat.  :)

It's in the shop's in the UK for ?249.99 and have real push button's instead of the touch sensitive ones on the original.

It doesn't matter about the HD size as any usb drive that's formatted to FAT32 will work fine. My eldest son has a 500GB drive hooked up to his.  ;D

I always wait for at least a year or 2 after consoles are released before I'll consider getting them.

In addition to paying a cheaper price, there's a good chance that they've worked out all the bugs that arose when they release the first generation to a public that inevitably finds unforeseen problems with the things. :)

But, yeah, you're pretty much right.  ;) :P

It uses Fat32. I do it on the PC and use a prog called Swissknife (there will other progs that do the same thing), which allows you to create a partition of any size (get's round the 32gb partition size with fat32), but the max file size is still 4gb

There is a Tut here. http://www.wikihow.com/Add-an-External-Hard-Drive-to-a-PlayStation-3

This shows you how to replace your PS3 HDD without voiding your warranty.

Do you mean the above youtube vid or what will a PS3 play.  :-\

With firmware above Ver 2.51 a PS3 will play Divx, Xvid (Avi is just the container) . I think the Divx one's have to be made using Divx Ver 5.0 or above.  :-\

I have never had any problems, just burn a Data disc with Nero and they play.

I don't bother with MP4 as they don't play on my Divx DVD player.
