I thought it would suck so I never bothered watching it.
It seems to me that the science-fiction genre, especially the alien invasion/nuclear survival themes, is over-exploited today.

I've not heard of Falling Skies.  I do agree with this, and reading the Wikipedia description and IMDB review put me off.  If it had more aliens and less human, I'd probably consider watching it.

I watched the first few episodes of this and then forgot all about it.  I'm not sure whether that's a bad sign or not.

Probably is, probably means my memory is failing.
