Is that the one where you arrange "accidents" in a supermarket? Sorry, couldn't resist.

So I took 8ully's lead and bought the first 3 Mass Effect titles and managed to get them for just £6.50 all in. Everything looked fine until I started the first game and I realised I had the well documented "stuttering" during gameplay. I have spent most of the day messing around with the engine .ini file and have tried a gazillion fixed suggested online.

Nothing has worked.

It appears that my hardware is too far ahead of what the game imagined and other than installing an old, crappy graph card just to run the game (that might not work either), I may have to skip the first game altogether.

Could try it on my laptop for kicks, though.

I've not encountered that error, but my computer was originally built in 2011.

I'd suggest the EA answers HQ, but honestly, it's mostly poo.

Did you buy the Trilogy pack? Or did you do the whole shebang with three purchases nonsense I did?

I just checked on steam, if you have Nvidia graphics you can use something called Rivatuner to fix it, but I have ATI.

I originally played Mass Effect on a 2006 MBP, and had no performance issues. I was kind of surprised how smooth it ran back then.

Bought a trilogy key from mmoga that was fine in my Origin account. Probably the first time I haven't moaned at the boy for his gaming knowledge.

Using a fat Radeon so the Nvidia fix won't work. I might be able to use my onboard graphics, but I'd have to move the smaller monitor back down and play it on that. Don't really have the Real Estate:

I've read some poo about processor timing, but I don't understand it. Apparently before 10 you could manually adjust it, but 10 does it better somehow?

Are you getting a constant stutter, or is it on the menus? because on the 360, I just learned to live with that.

Holy golly is ME a nightmare on 360, give me a mouse and keyboard any day.

The boy explained to me that RivaTuner would work with AMD and so I installed Afterburner which is the latest project that includes RT. It didn't help and you can actually see the stutter on the "press any key to continue" screen and apparently it is at its worst in the "citadel" which will mean far more to you than I.

With RivaTuner and AfterBurner running with an overlay, you can see the FPS drop below 35 at the stutter even though it's set not to. It makes the game completely unplayable as the audio also glitches (subs-on can overcome that issue though).

I have an i7 by the way. Quite dated too. Just built a better system around it.

Onboard graphics didn't change anything - at least, didn't improve the stutter although quality downgraded. Tweaking the processor didn't change anything either.

I think it's a futile endeavour.

Tetris must be awesome on that screen.

Only in portrait.

if you want any cfg files or poo from mine, I'd be glad to send. Hell, tell me what settings you're using and I'll see if I get the stutter.

I know this will come off as blasphemy, but if you strip out the reaper poo, Mass Effect is more appealing to me than Star Wars.

I appreciate that but, for me, it looks like the party's over as I have to go back to work next week. That means I will probably have the time to play a computer game only after I retire.

It was fun though and there is a youtube vid that's nearly 4 hours long of every cutscene in ME. I'm thinking to wade through that and consider it done.
