It is lovely.  Recipe here:  http://www.gourmet.com.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/recipes/2000s/2009/06/raspberry-buttermilk-cake.html  I add ¼ c brown sugar + ¼ c chopped walnuts & ½ tsp of cinnamon to the top before I put it in the oven.

It works as a nice coffee cake for breakfast or as a nice afternoon snack.  I don't know if you get buttermilk in the U.K.  I suspect that substituting an equal amount of plain yogurt will work as well.

I'm having tea and need to go roll out some scone dough.

Courtesy of the local public library streaming services:
Speakerine.  A drama set in 1960's Paris that deals with the Ministry of Information and its television broadcast, which I assume is parallel to the BBC.  The "Speakerine" of the title refers to the main female announcer.  She and her family are drawn into this drama that includes insights into contemporaneous politics, relations between the sexes, and the Algerian war.  We've seen 2 episodes so far.  It's not as good as Engrenages, which I loved, but so far, it's not bad.   With Gregory Fitousi, aka "Mr. Handsome," who seems to be in lots of stuff, from Mr. Selfridge, to Engrenages, to this.  He's in lots of other films and tv shows that I haven't seen so he's one of those guys who "gets a lot of work."

Ovid's Metamorphoses
It's kind of a history of the world, including a big flood, and then a series of mythological stories, like Jupiter and Juno's constant marital problems due to his incessant infidelities and the havoc this wreaks on mortals and other demigods.  Poor Io, the nymph, that got turned into a cow, and Argus, the hundred eyed sentinel who had to watch over her.  Neither one had a great time of it.  Then there's the scallywag mortal child of Apollo (Phoebus), Phaeton, who asks Dad if he can borrow the car.  Things go downhill from there.  It's a series of short episodes -- so rather easy and entertaining.  Many myths that I'd heard in passing are laid out in greater detail here, so it's pretty fun.

We're just breaking in the grandson as a lawn mower. Higher rates than I remember from my youth, but saves me putting sun tan lotion on!

 ;D ;D

I wish he lived closer as the weeds here are out of control.  The weather has been lovely and the weeds are super happy.  At least it rained a few days ago so they're not so hard to pull.

Not too bad in the garden but then again my better half feeds a lot to the tortoise ( note to oneself, tortoise needs a out door spce this year)

An accountant was passing a beggar in the street, and the man said "I have not eaten for three days" The accountant replied "How does that compare with the same period last year"?
