TV / Movies / Trailers that make it unnecessary to watch the show
« Last post by 6pairsofshoes on April 30, 2024, 09:42:31 AM »
I'm reading Edward Bulwer-Lytton's "Last Days of Pompeii," which is actually a decent book.  Apparently, there have been several movies made based on the plot.  I was digging around on youtube and found this campy 1980's trailer that fits this thread.  If you find others that are total spoiler fests, feel free to post them here.

A man called the police and said, "I found a suitcase with a cat and four kittens in it, in the forest." The operator said, "That's terrible. Are they moving?" The man said, "I didn't ask but that would explain the suitcase."

I'm not sure this is bad enough to qualify for this thread but it sure doesn't belong in My Favorite TV Show of the Moment, so it's here.
On amazon prime:
I watched another episode of The Wheel of Time.  I'm still marveling at the clean clothes.  This is another one of those shows where attractive people are good and ugly people are bad.  It's about as subtle as a train wreck.  Most of the characters are annoying and you don't really care what happens to them.  I doubt the book is like this (or should I say books?).  Can't say the tv series motivates me to read the books.

What constitutes fashion in space?  Does it exist?  Will there be Armani spacesuits or other elements of conspicuous consumption?  How many people have to be walking around on other planets before this becomes a thing?

Inquiring minds want to know.  Now I have to go put my wet laundry into the dryer.  Do I win?

If clothes are worn then the Fashion indusry will sell them

How many critics does it take to change a lightbulb?

None.  They wait for someone else to do it and then write a long critique assessing the performance.

Wasn't by choice as the old one was condemned. About £2500 with a cash only deal, Boiler and power wash the system and a overflow pipe (which was forgotten the first time we had one fitted).  On top of all the roof work  :-[ :-[

That sounds expensive.  We had to have our plumbing redone and it will also cost an arm and a leg.  At least you will have a reliable source of heat to enjoy in the winter.

I don't own a mandoline.  I have some good sharp knives and when I have tons of slicing to do, like with segments of citrus with rind for marmalade, I cram stuff in a food processor with a slicer blade but it's not fine enough for what you probably want to do with it.  We mostly buy presliced lunchmeat so that's not an issue.  Everything else we just cut up by hand.

I'd stay away from the cheaper models of mandolines.  Sometimes America's test kitchens rate them and that might be a good guide.  I'd also check craigslist as sometimes people buy them decide they don't want to use them and then get rid of them for free or lots less than the usual retail price.
