Robin-Graves:
The term cigarette means two very different things to the US and the UK.
In the UK,, you say your going to go smoke  cigarette,, your going out to have a quick smoke.
In the US,, you say your going to go smoke a cigarette, your threatening to commit a hate crime . lmao
It cracks me up to hear people talking about fags here lmao

When I worked for Digital, I used to travel a lot and was over at plants in the US a lot. The Scot guys I was over with would say 'indie's in the bushes having a couple of fags' (I was out having a smoke) but the looks and laughs that would get.

I would come in from having a smoke and everybody would be looking at me. ???

Nice guys I worked with.  ;D

I remember the first time I heard the word cigarette in its American context whilst watching Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.  They hugged and then called each other fags, I had no idea what cigarettes had to do with any of it.
