Title: Tragedy at my favourite beach.
Post by: smokester on November 02, 2009, 10:41:53 AM
There was a landslide at the only beach I go to when in Tenerife (as it is the only one within walking distance of where I stay) killing 2 people.  This beach is tiny at about 40 metres long and half of that in depth.  The wall of earth behind it always unnerved me and I'll see if I can dig some photos up of it before the collapse.

Wow, that's always shocking when a news story happens close :-\

I've been reading lots more about sand sinkholes happening too. I'd always considered the ocean and sea dangerous any time I went to the beach, but I'd never even thought about things like sinkholes and slides before.

I wouldn't say it's close as it's way down off the coast of Africa, but because I have sat on that beach so many times in my life I do feel like it is somewhere I call my own.

There was a landslide in Carlisle yesterday blocking the tracks there.
Luckily , it happened before a couple freinds made it that far.
They were on thier way back to London when the train was stopped and everyone was diverted.
