Ive been watching the tv show Stella but I cant figure out why every character on the show sounds like theyre from Jamaica?
Stella is a British comedy-drama created and written by David Peet and Ruth Jones who plays the lead role of Stella. Stella is one of the flagship television comedy series that has been commissioned and aired on Sky1. The series is largely filmed in Ferndale in the Rhondda Valley in Wales.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this.im interested in the answer to if anyone knows.

Personally I can't see it at all. But then my in-laws are Jamaican and I'm surrounded by Welsh folk so they're more distinct for me.
Saying that, don't think Jamaicans living in America sound Jamaican. In my experience they tend to soften their accent with a little American twang. Here they leave it to be subtitled.

They both kinda stress the last part of the sentence in a similar way. But hey, I'd probably need subtitles for Jamaican English. I also need subtitles for Chilean Spanish now that I think about it. :D

Like the researched post in that link says: Indians really do sound Welsh.

So to move forward then, Indians have Caribbean accents as well. The whole thing STILL doesnt make any sense to me.
