I find these a particularly good deal, but for my Australian friends, steam deals are a godsend.
Steam generally has a "weekend deal" where the price of a game is drastically dropped. These deals are limited time only, so I try to get the word out as quickly as possible.
In the past, I've picked up the id pack for 25% off, The orange box for 10% off, the epic pack for 10% off, and most recently, Left 4 dead for 50% off.
Sometimes deals pop up mid-week, such as when I picked up Gmod for $5.
This week, THQ is releasing a different deal each day. Today, Saints Row 2 is 75% off
So, $7 dollars about. I don't think my system is quite up to playing it, but it is a deal not to be missed.
It really does want to download 11 gb of assets. That's a lot of stuff.
-
I'm so gutted I missed that Left 4 Dead deal!
I have a friend that totally loves Saints Row, I think Imma gonna make him jealous!
Just to be sure, when you say Australian, are you teasing?
-
I am talking about specific Australians.
I also forgot to mention that half life 2 deathmatch is completely free.
Australians are drastically overcharged on games. A typical xbox 360 game might cost 90 dollars!
-
Oh I see. I thought it was a reference to certain British accents and the Australian accent sounding similar. I saw it on TV once
-
Currently, ALL half life games are 58% off. This offer expires in FOUR HOURS. If you want it, get on it now.
Original half life is $4.37 cents, and we can play co-op!
What's the big deal? ALL of the half life games are $21.99!
that's
half-life
half-life opposing force
half-life blue shift
team fortress classic
Half-life 2
half-life 2 dm
half-life 2 episode one
half-life 2 episode two
GET ON THIS
Assassin's Creed was $5 for the midweek.
ARMA II is currently half price for $24.99

I know this is a Steam thread, but I just thought I'd mention World of Goo is any price you want to pay for it until tomorrow.

Steam has holiday deals on!
-
Oh yeah, it's absolutely insane, wish I had the money for dragon age.
-
If I wasn't so far into my overdraft, I'd have got me Assassin's Creed - it was ?9.99!
-
that's a fairly regular deal, I got it a month ago for that price.
I did pick up left 4 dead 2. My friend insists on playing it on advanced, which is above his difficulty threshold.
Coach is the best support character, but he plays as coach... and he's a lone wolf. Nick and Rochelle died a lot.
I like to play as nick, but you miss out on a lot of his lines if you play as him.
-
I got Assassin's Creed (the first one) for $5 on Steam about 2 months ago. I also took advantage of these sales and got about $70 worth of games (which ended up being about 20 some games). F***, it's getting to be like iTunes. Damn the compulsion buys.
-
You guys! I'm getting jealous!
-
I bought Torchlight a while back (can't remember if I paid the full $20 or not) but now it's $9.99. It is WELL WORTH that price. Also it's by an indie company so I wanted to invest in them to try and keep them going.
-
Oh man, I forgot to mention that orange box was $14.99. Portal ALONE is worth that, but you also get hl2 with both expansion packs, PLUS team fortress 2.
Today's sales were a wash, but for the record they were -
Jade empire $3.75
Mr. Robot $1.99
Company of heroes tales of valor $7.49
Silent hill homecoming $9.99
King Arthur role playing wargame $19.99
Stormrise $7.49
New deals every day at 9 AM through jan 3rd! YES PLEASE!
-
I could really use anotherr HL2 episode...MOAR!!
-
Why is episode 3 taking so long :'(. By the time they release it, I'll have enough grey hair to do that Rogue hairstyle!
-
The scarier part is they won't talk about time frames. Duke nukem forever suffered from the same vagueness.
-
The THQ pack, which is 18 games, and is regularly priced at $99.99 is currently $49.99 which is a MEGA SWEET deal.

It says Portal is free!

Until May 24th.
-
I don't like Call of Duty MW2 being only 50% off, ?15 is still too much for a game I'm only going to play once!
-
It's a fun game. ?15? Dunno, but I got an "extended trial version" of it. ::)
-
That reminds me, I'm supposed to get myself on of those versions of Red Faction. The one I got off Steam seems to overheat my computer and makes it switch off >:( I had to relearn pressing the quick button every 2 minutes :D
It's kind of annoying for a game that was made in 2001.
Red Faction went OK after I fiddled with the compatibility thingy.
This looks like fun:

Internet says it uses Nine Inch Nails music. It free, but apparently, I'm the last person to know about it :D
It looks so nice.
-
I've only played through a bit of it so far, but I'm really like these:

If I were a rich man, I'd "gift" it to everybody.
-
looks scary to me :-[
-
It is a bit, Fatale made me jump at the end of the first level.
Steam is a bit broken:

Zero percent off is unusually generous of them :-\
And the RRP of Portal 2! :o

This extension here:
https://addons.opera.com/en-gb/extensions/details/steam-regional-prices/
It gives you the cost of the games across different regions and allows you to pay the lower price. I've noticed the Russian roubles are usually a lot lower. I've not purchased anything using it, because I haven't wanted a new game in a long time (and I'm a scaredy cat), but I'd thought I'd share it to make the Steam deals more dealy.
