Crashed down but was empty. Article says the whole thing was caught on video so maybe the child was never really on it. Here's hoping.

the newscasters on cnn made it sound as if this mightve been a publicity stunt since the family was on the show wife swap.

I hope the child is alright.
That is bizarre and depressing. :(

Says on the news he was found alive and well. He was never in the balloon.

I saw the news cast of this whole afair.
After seeing the balloon, I knew it was a scam.
For helium to lift a 70 pound child it would have to contain 1500 or so cubic feet ( my calculations are conservative mind you) of helium gas.
That ballon didnt hold more than 100 cubic feet at best.
I figured it for a scam right off.
Unless the child was the size of a house cat, it wouldnt have worked
-
I wonder what was reason for this theatre.

I read a bit about it in the Sun,, and evidently the boy admited to authorities that it was for tv.
The father called the radio station before he called emergency 911.
During an interview the boy was throwing up he was so afraid.
When the father was asked about what the boy said, he told people his son was just confused.
They were on a tv show in America called Wife Swap and became media junkies.
Anyone that has an inkling of physics would know that the balloon was too small for the boy to be carried away with.
