As a photographer.. I don't think it's an overly original idea.. But, it's not a bad magazine layout idea. I'm undecided about the level of originality and talent.

I'm sure it looks like stretched out splatters of paint from some angles.  I bet a lot of people see it and say, "Who made that awful mess?"  :D

Bet the artist added a circle/foot-steps saying "Stand here"... They usually do, I've seen some of those...
