;D I always thought the red ones were females and the brown ones male . but its really the other way around. I would have taken a picture but opening the garden gate would have scared her away. Its nice to see cardinal once in while instead of the sparrows, I havent seen the male cardinal in while though... I was thinking about making a bird feeder, but im afraid it would invite the squirrels to come hang out. I like squirrels but just not in my garden. lol
and i saw a pigeon fight the other day. I don't know if they were fighting over the female or the nesting area...

I have two wood pigeons that live in my garden and they are obviously mates. Today a rather well groomed male appeared and decided he'd try and do the nasty with the resident female and quite a scuffle ensued. In the end I had the open the kitchen door and tell the intruding male to 'oppit which gave the neighbours a fright, as they had no idea who I was shouting at.
I'll take pictures if that Casanova tries his luck again.

One time I looked in my backyard to find a Red-Tailed Hawk perched on the wall behind my house. I went outside to get a closer look at it, and possibly take a picture, but it flew away when I got within 20 feet of it :-[

My parents used to have eagles nesting in their property.
