I wonder what a USA v Italy final would pay out?
They're not giving odds on the extreme outside chances and you'd have to phone them for a price. The most unlikely finalists they have odds on seem to be Argentina vs Portugal, and you can get at least 80/1 on that (more from Betfair I'd guess), but you have to remember that math is involved in that decison as teams would have to finish the groups in a certain position to be able to meet later on in that way.
...I have a sneaking suspicion the USA will do well this time round and they are my pick.
...he too said that the USA has a good team...
...but he held the Ivory coast in high regard...
...albeit sometimes by hook or by crook. I suppose that's a bit like Maradona .. :)
Crooks?
I understood the meaning well then. It certainly applies for Bilardo's methods. ;D
Hey, I don't think the USA will progress as Slovenia has one of the best defence in the tournament and might sneak through, and I am presuming that England will do well in the group stage.
The Ivory coast apparently looked really good in the African Nations cup when all others looked average, and I have heard quite a few pundits tip them as an outside chance so I will tick their games as 'one to watch' on my chart.
England are also about right at 7/1 I think as Capello does know how to win a game - albeit sometimes by hook or by crook. I suppose that's a bit like Maradona .. :)
Slovenia finished runners up in their qualifying group to Slovakia in a pretty weak group. Their two defeats coming against the Czech Republic and Northern Ireland. I don't think England (or the USA for that matter) will be losing much sleep the night before playing them.
It said on the news earlier that Drogba's got a suspected broken elbow, that'll mean he'll have to change his diving style.
It also said on the news earlier that Ferdinand's injured already so England might have a chance after all. :)
The first team he played in was Newell's Old Boys from Rosario (my team and my hometown). He was discovered by Jorge Griffa and Marcelo Bielsa, the best football trainers ever. ;D

Argentina is would be excellent choice if they have real coach, not old cokenose.
Im thinking of buying an Argentina indigo change colours shirt for this tournament,i've got a 2006 home shirt and a 2006 England home shirt.I've only got Switzerland shirts, I rarely get to wear them though :'(
Maradona was an excellent player in his time.Excellent player, but coaching...
With an hour or so to go before the opening ceremony, I have to get ready to go to a wedding >:(
Excellent player,but coaching...
If it's like any of the weddings I've been to, expect a kick off at the reception over something trivial to liven things up.
Poor old Greeny, how many people worldwide saw that howler?
...I abstained to be polite (and the fact that the room was too crammed for me to get in)...
...but it has taken the wind out of my interest to be honest, as I don't feel like the competition has started yet.
I woke up late today when the 1st half of the 2nd match was finishing
Most coaches are ex players.True.
Germany have looked the best so far. Good game tonight, and Everton's Tim Cahill managed to get himself sent off. :)
Unfortunately they are another team that doesn't have to physical strength to deal with the heavyweight teams.
I think the Spanish league is the best in the world personally.
I'm half expecting South Korea to cause a bit of a shock the way they played in the first game.

It would be good if they did, in fact, it would be nice if Argentina, Spain, Brazil and Germany were all put out of the competition during the group stages.
I'm still hoping that Green's gaff was part of a cunning plan to lull the competition into a false sense of security.
:D :D
THOSE PIGS
I think you guys are all freaks but whatever............

What was he doing hiding behind the pole? (Is that the correct term in English?)From what I recall from playing in the school playground, I think it's called the goal post or just post. I'm hoping someone could confirm.
Damn, those little booth thieves bastards are there too!?!?
Consider yourself lucky. First match in my country is at 8:30 in the morning.
I can't start drinking that early. >:( :D
WTH? Beer comes in 5 packs in the UK? Or do you just buy 2 full cases and one broken case with 9 in it? That makes no sense to me?

Judging by what I have watched so far I can only say I'm very disappointed on most of the teams. So far there has been only few good matches, games must be better soon or this can be named Tournament of Boredom.
I've seen a documentary about the the Jabulani ball. They tell how and why they've chosen materials, surface, etc. Have you noticed it has some dotted parts and some parts with little "lines"? Well apparently that's not only aesthetic. The AMAZING things they do to the ball to try it!!! They bounce it, smash it, squelch it, heat it, put it in different wind tunnels, etc, etc. The money involved must be huge.
And then some brainless sport journalists (yeah, I know, that's redundant :D) go and say with the conviction of those who know nothing about nothing: Why don't they change it? Geeeeez....

Every time when new ball comes to World Cups,it's invalid according to some coaches, players and media.
Chile made me laugh
Chile made me laugh, if they get through I might start supporting them :D
I forgot Murat Yakin no longer plays for Switzerland. His brother's getting old too :))

Sorry about Behrami, it looks like he has adopted some of the tactics of the West Ham fans.Yeah, I don't like him. And he shares my birthday, which really annoys me >:(
Fairweather support then? ::)Definately! :D Switzerland never make it through, I've got no choice :'(
I'm glad England made it through, I want people to keep being excited about the tournament :)
And when I saw the USA goal, I imagined this great Hollywood moment, with music and cheering and the tears of happiness :')
I'm so bad :(
Compared to Nigeria yesterday, England looked incredibly well coordinated. I was impressed, I had no idea they could play so well! :o
Yeah, I don't like him. And he shares my birthday, which really annoys me >:(
Definately! :D Switzerland never make it through, I've got no choice :'(
By the way, I am now supporting USA.
Looks like you're going to have to rent the movie after all, smokes. :)
Brazil v Portugal is about to start, I've been looking forward to this one since they were drawn in the same group.
I'll have to go round to Chek's place for a Swiss game if they get through ..:'(
for me it's not about the football it's about england winning something for once ;)
4-1
I think the English tabloids are going to have a seizure tomorrow morning.
Someone shoot the World Cup please.:D :D

:'(
Paul's current prediction is he wants to be set free, return to the ocean, find a girlfriend and have babies ...and quit being used for really stupid human experiments :D
Skadi, you've got to admit, as stupid human experiments go, Paul got a much better one then he could have.
I might even put a tenner on a Argentina vs Spain final (would pay ?250)
but you have to remember that math is involved in that decison as teams would have to finish the groups in a certain position to be able to meet later on in that way.
I personally can't stand all the rolling around on the floor and trying to get the opposition players booked - perhaps if they had calmed down and played football, they'd have made more inroads into the German defence.YES! Same problem with Brazil. All that diving and trying to gain a freekick; it's idiotic, they would have done better if they had actually concentrated.

Uruguay. ;D
I'd rather see Netherlands win more than Uruguay. Germany also. Spain is too boringly undeserved; they hardly played any good football apart from the occasional goal needed to get through.

I'm with whatever the octopus says.
I wonder if he'd pick my lottery numbers?
well he did decide not to send off 2 dutch players who should and would have been sent off in any other game.LOL that kung fu kick. that was a red definitely. but his desire to keep everyone on the field gave everyone a free pass to do all kinds of crazy poo. he influenced the game too much, and not in a good way.
sending anyone off would have handed the cup to the other sideHeitinga got sent off 80 minutes too late for dive from iniesta, and then iniesta scores. hmm.
