I was just making the statement that "hell" is different to different people.  Jean-Paul Sartre wrote in his book No Exit that "hell is other people" (originally in French, Huis Clos, "l'enfer, c'est les autres", "Hell, it's the others").  So as the typical Judeo-Christian outlook of Hell is a burning fiery pit, others see it differently.  In Norse mythology, Hel is an iceland.

Some believe that Hell is pace without the presence of God.
Actualy, Hell is mentioned three times in the bible, one as a place of sickness, another that translates into " Outside the City" which is where the refuse was sent ( Sheol) and another meaning madness.

The lake of fire is , in some beliefs, meant to be a place of purifacation, where your sins are "Burned Away" before you can be in the presence of God.
 The lakeof fire is where those that die without knowing God are thrown during judgement.
