I heard that this was going to be on the news tonight around 530pm, but I changed the channel so never heard what it was about. And now, too lazy to actually look it up.

But is that total, or each way?

I think it sounds like more than it is. How many bacteria are exchanged during a 5 minute bathroom break for example? or a 2 second handshake?

 I don't think I want to know what bacteria I may pick up from a 5 minute bathroom break. I think they did do a study on the amount of bacteria transferred from handshake.

I"ll look it up and post the results..

its not  a even exchange… the article says one partner transfer 80 million 'bugs' to the other partner

I have good news and bad news.
The good news is the vast majority of bacteria in saliva are harmless.
The bad news is you should take into account viruses and fungi too.  ;D
