I am no spec, but I guess it is like brutal but with pornographic, and sometimes even disturbing, lyrics. As for the music, they all sound pretty much the same to me :-\

I must admit those are catchy but mainstream:
==================================== And HERE (http://www.rocktube.us/s6a1bTILDME/Anette_Olzon_Nightwish_playing_with_her_previous_band.html) is Annette Olzon from Nightwish playing with her previous band. I never understood why Tuomas Holopainen prefered a Roxette type vocalist to replace Tarja Turunen. Three weeks ago I went to their show in Debrecen, Hungary, and I hated it. I miss Tarja. :'(

Tarja has an unique talent, and replacing something unique... well...
I haven't seen Nightwish live, either incarnations, but the studio stuff is pretty good with Anette in the driving seat... How she performs on stage, however, is something I know nothing about... :-\
Tarja may have been a thousand times better, but according to the band, she was notoriously hard to work with... So...

In my opinion, Victor Smolski (guitar - in your first video) is one of the best guitarists ever. I went last year to see their show in Bucharest. It was AMAZING. They are only three guys but they don't need another guitarist 'cause this Smolski genius sounds like two or three guitarists in the same time.

I dont think any other music category is shredded apart quite like this. Interesting.......
1 Primary heavy metal subgenres 1.1 Black metal 1.2 Death metal 1.3 Doom metal 1.4 Drone metal 1.5 Folk metal 1.6 Glam metal 1.7 Gothic metal 1.8 Groove metal 1.9 Industrial metal 1.10 Metalcore 1.11 Neo-classical metal 1.12 Nu metal 1.13 Post-metal 1.14 Power metal 1.15 Progressive metal 1.16 Sludge metal 1.17 Speed metal 1.18 Stoner metal 1.19 Thrash metal 2 Cross-genre terms within heavy metal 2.1 Alternative metal 2.2 Avant-garde metal 2.3 Christian metal 2.4 Extreme metal 2.5 Rap metal 2.6 Symphonic metal 2.7 Viking metal

Viking metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music characterised by its galloping pace, keyboard-rich anthemic sound, bleakness and dramatic emphasis on Norse mythology, Norse paganism, and the Viking Age.
Post-metal movement takes influences from post-rock. While it is in many ways similar to post-rock, post-metal tends to include lower-tuned guitars, darker themes and tones, and heavier drums. Post-metal stresses emotion, contrasting the ambiance of post-rock with the weight and bombast of metal

I must admit I really don't know these subgenres:
1.4 Drone metal 1.11 Neo-classical metal 1.13 Post-metal 1.16 Sludge metal 2.2 Avant-garde metal 2.3 Christian metal
But the rest of them are really different subgenres, easy to identify by a metalhead.
Title: Re: METAL METAL METAL
Post by: MisterAJ on June 15, 2009, 05:34:04 AM
:D Indeed. But seriously, for me that classification is important. For example I try to avoid everything tagged as black metal, cause it's definitely not my type of metal. Almost the same with death/doom and death metal (few exceptions: Arch Enemy, In Flames and other 2-3 melodic death metal bands). I'm not into glam metal either.
Expalnations: METAL SUBGENRES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_subgenres)
I still don't get what the hell is Christian metal. :D :D

Shame on me, I've never heard of them :-[. But now, listening Whitecross on MySpace I found that the boundary between Glam Metal and Christian Metal, if there is one, is very thin. Btw, Whitecross sounds like Ratt.

Man,, if the metal is good, listen to it, dont go off about why you hate a so called " sub genre". You might as well reclasify horror into diferent types. water into diferent types, air, dirt , whathaveyou. Metal will never die, and thats whats important.
Title: Re: METAL METAL METAL
Post by: nenea_hartia on June 16, 2009, 03:29:28 AM
Yes, metal is good, but for me not ALL metal is good. And I don't listen to Black Metal not because I hate the name of that subgenre but because I dislike its music, which for me sounds very distinct. In particular, I hate growls and gloomy music and although I tried, I dislike all Black Metal bands I ever listened to. So that's why now I try to avoid every band labeled as Black Metal. I mean today I wouldn't buy a Black Metal album. But I like metal and if some day a friend would give me a good Black Metal album or indicate me a good track and if I would like it, trust me, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. But for now the subgenre classification works for me and I stick with it. :D
I know a lot of people listen to Black metal and I didn't mean to offend anyone. I hope I didn't. ----------------
:D :D And something funny:
Title: Re: METAL METAL METAL
Post by: MisterAJ on June 16, 2009, 06:31:03 AM
:D :D :D
There are few Black Metal bands I like, but Children of Bodom (see below, Nenea) and Dimmu Borgir is a notch above, IMO...
I don't actively stay away from genres, but I only "Acquire" music I really like...
If it's industrial-, folk-, Speed- or whatever-metal, I don't care: I still like songs and bands here and there...
But metal has become so big, it's impossible to TRULY love all songs and all bands...
If you like this one, you probably should check them out...
Oh, I know Children of Bodom and I love them. But I think they are more like a medley of subgenres and styles than a true black metal band. Nevertheless, they are a great band, thank you for reminding me of them.
But metal has become so big, it's impossible to TRULY love all songs and all bands...
Quoted for truth. :)

Manowar yesterday night in Bucharest. damn' awesome!
On "The Gods Made Heavy Metal" Joey invited a guitarist from the public to join them for the song and some girls to encourage him. A brave dude and two girls had the guts to climb on stage and Joey took one of those girls and gave her a 10 minutes kiss and then said: "Nice to meet you. I'm Joey, by the way". :D And guess what, CMF: both girls were from Bulgaria! :D And after playing the song together Eric asked the audience if the Romanian guitarist did it well and then they gave him the guitar as a gift. And finally: "He played well enough to f**k these two chicks up here ?" ;D
And something else: a 10 minutes speech in Romanian. He said that what America knows best about Romania is Count Dracula. But "I don't know him really well. I never had the pleasure. But I know his niece. And what she does better than Count Dracula is to suck!" ;D

Wow, AJ! That song of Tyr is awesome! Thank you for posting, I almost forgot about that great band. Gotta check for more of them.
Well, it seems UDO is coming to Romania on November 17th.

Well, a great gig in Bucharest yesterday: the metal gods Judas Priest, featuring Whitesnake and Hatebreed as opening act. I bought a ticket at Golden Circle (45€) for a 2h15' of Rob Halford & Co. The guy is 60 years old (!!) but il looks younger than a 20 years one and for me he is eternal.
my step-brothers (bass and drums) have formed a band with their friends.
Here is their first video, another one is in production. (yes, I'm viraling this) ;)
anyways, enjoy!

Always a pleasure to see you AJ, and your step brother's outfit look top drawer.

Good to see you AJ. I like your bro's selection of hair styles (if it's like me...he didn't have much of a choice). I also like the choice of Jackson guitars!

Glad you liked them.
Here are two more, and # 4 is in production, STARRING YOURS TRULY AS A .... wait for it... anyway, enjoy:
The song, Sacred Silence, will be posted upon release.
They were on some Norwegian chart, called "untouched". it is just bands/musicians that have not been signed yet, they went pretty high :)

Deep Purple's legendary keyboard player, the amazing Jon Lord, has passed away yesterday, 16th of July, after a long battle with a terrible disease. Rest in peace Jon, we will remember you through your magic music :'(.

Jon Lord was a genius when it came to fusion. A true inspiration to all musicians regardless of their particular genre of music.
R.I.P indeed.
Very good to see you around too Nenea.

Endstille - Anomie
A lot of people say all Endstille's stuff sounds alike, and they may be right, but I really like the new album.
Lääz Rockit - Euroshima
This is just great song from yesteryear.
