I'm thinking whether I should phone some clients and book in the work they need doing, or just take the rest of January off.

Thinking of how to tidy up the mess left after installing my new comp.  Wires and bric-a-brac everywhere.

You should have told him your husband was a tradesman of some kind like a carpenter or plumber.  Tradesmen always go an extra mile for our counterparts in a sort of "thick as thieves" kind of way.

Yeah, I know that! It's like that in my older profession too. I still resort to my "nobility title" ( ::) ::)) every now and then.
I have a card up my sleeve: a friend of mine is an electrician. But he lives a bit far away and he won't want to charge me so I'll have to buy a present for his kid or some wine for him and it's a complication. Oh well, there are worse things in life.
