it was $199 @ target and it came with sports game. I like it so far I did pretty good at bowling and tennis was sort of hard as I lost a couple of matches. I played the golf which was even harder then then the tennis but I did really well with the boxing.
-
Nice mishca. Is it as much fun as it's being hyped to be?
-
So far it is but it will probably wear off soon.
-
Congrats! :)

It's never worn off for me. Some games are just more intuitive feeling with the Wii controllers..so I like playing those game a lot. It would be hard for me to back track to an older Nintendo format.

what games do you have ?

what games do you have ?
I play boring games compared to most people :P And I haven't invested as much money in games that I'd like to if money was endless. This weekend I played mostly Animal Crossing, and Wii Ski. I'll write out a list later.
-
Congrats. :) I actually want a wii. I pretty much grew out of video games for the most part, but the one time I played wii tennis with my friend's son, I got hooked. ;D
-
you should get one. Toy R Us has the Wii on sale and you get the wii fit board.
-
I have a Wii and the excitement has faded a bit but only because I'm too cheap to actually go buy new games. I've had the information to soft mod it for over a year now but just haven't bothered to do so. I know if I did, I'd still be enjoying it as much as the first day.
One thing I hate is that games that are cross platform (such as The Force Unleashed) get "dumbed down" for the Wii as it doesn't having anywhere near the processing power of the PS3 and Xbox360 (my roommate had a PS3 so we were both playing The Force Unleashed on our respective consoles over the same time period so the difference were glaring).

Thanks, I'll look into it. :)

You should soft mod it. Aside from wii games, apparently, you have all the previous Nintendo consoles as emulators at your disposal if I'm not mistaken. Also one of the reasons I want one.
-
I want to play MadWorld. There was a song about it on Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00n1j8q) (WATCH IT!) and it looked really cool. It reminded me of ZPC, but with less colour.

^ I don't suppose you spend time making all kinds of bizarre Mii's.. then die laughing when you get to see which random ones get chosen to play baseball against each other :D
The Wii definitely can't compete against most platforms. Hard core gamers should defintiely have one or all of the others. Wii is fun for goofing off with other people and being silly. ..things like playing Boogie and posing for pictures with the Yeti in Wii Ski ;D And it was a good step up platform for some of the already established Nintendo games. But I don't know anyone that plays things like first person shooters on it.
It has it's appeal. But, it can't replace other systems.
-
wii fit is great ;D
some of the balance games are great when you have had a drink
-
^ That's super funny. It's another incentive for me to save money and buy one :D
I really really want a balance board for Wii Ski anyway. And for any future snowboard games I might buy.
The next games I'd like to get are Endless Ocean and The Sports Resorts game.. because.. I think it has archery on it. I need to get on a site and see what's new. I was thinking about Wii Music but I don't know anyone who owns it.
The big game I'm waiting for is the newest Harvest Moon game due out in November. Besides having the normal people to marry, you can now marry Wizard (who is especially cute and sweet), or the Harvest God (who is uber sexy). And if you play as a guy, they have a new character Witch, she's really funny and sexy.
-
things like playing Boogie
;D
yeah, i so want a wii now. :D

WTF? November? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :D :D :D

Plus I have to find out if there are save/expansion features for Wii beyond the normal limits. I've been too lazy to do that ::)

I'm clueless. I'd have to sit down an read wii for dummies before going out to buy it.

I would have to get un-lazy and go read :D
I still haven't even hooked up mine to the interwebzzz >_<

oh I'm still lazy. I'd just be willing to read and learn about something that'll make me even lazier. ::) :D
I still haven't even hooked up mine to the interwebzzz >_<
Isn't that a crime in most states?
-
^ prolly. Mario & Luigi will most likely break down my door and rough me up >_<
-
:D
or better, you'll all tag-team. Mario & Luigi vs. Skadi & Bowser.
but you're not evil though,.......so maybe you and Toad can team up. :)
-
i just got the wii fit board thing.
the only thing i really like so far is the obstacle course.
-
...so maybe you and Toad can team up. :)
Toad makes a good team mate. If you eat the right side, you can grow very tall and jump over all the enemies. Just make sure it is the right side and not the other, being small makes you vulnerable to stomping :(
-
:D :)

oh cool. and really? I hear it can be loads of fun. I'm still thinking about geting a wii. THere's a handful of games I really would like to play, and also, lots of classic snes titles I'd love to play on the console as well. :)
-
maybe its more fun if you play with others? . I wish they had tennis on there but they dont.

That could be it as well. I think the wii is loads of fun generally if you're playing with others. I think the wii leans more towards playing with a group of friends anyway. I could be wrong, but I think it's fun regardless. Did you mean tennis on the wii? There is a wii tennis game, it's the first and only game I've played on the wii so far :P

The Wii Fit is fun , the more you play, the more games you unlock.
You can play Game Cube games, but Snes games where on a cart. Is that games you download on to it. :-\

Oh I see. Never knew about wii fit or how that all works. :P
Also, I know about downloading snes games. It's crummy, becasue I hear they're pretty costly considering the fact that they are classic games. I seriously would love to play The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on the tv since I never owned an snes. That would be so awesome. And there's lots of other snes titles I'd love to play. But yeah, there's also softmods, so I'd be a bad boy and mod my wii instead of pay more for an snes title than what it's worth. :P
i meant tennis on wii fit, they have tennis on the game that comes with the wii but theres no tennis on the wii fit
oh, that's sucky. :-\
-
Plus you can use the balance board with other games that you buy in addition to wii fit that are balance board capable.
-
I want a wii! (tee-hee! :D)
-

Wii Resort has ping pong/table tennis. I kind of want to get it. But not until after Harvest Moon which comes out Nov 10. And I still want Endless Ocean which is pretty cheap now. Plus, this time of year lots of retailers compete for business, and sometimes you can get some really good wii game deals like buy two, get one free.
-
endless ocean sounds interesting. I think i will check out the clearance section at target the next time im there.
-
I like Wii Ski. It's kind of boring and girly... :P But, if it's ever on sale you might get it. Plus one version you can use the balance board with. Plus it's funny to hang out and take your picture with the Yeti :D
-

^ oh.. because I was thinking about that earlier when you were talking about games you could play alone.
-
There she goes quoting herself again. ::)
;)
I like that buy two get 1 free deal. I'll bet black Friday gets real competitive.
-
^ If the choices were no good.. then it'd be dumb. It just depends on how desperate retailers are. Otherwise it's just best to narrow your choices, and buy games carefully, even if it's at full cost. That way you know you'll use them lots. I hate shopping, I defnitely would never shop a black Friday. I'd just rather have less games ::)
-
I hate shopping too, but black Friday does have some really neat deals that I'm wise enough to take especially if it's on something I'm planning to buy anyway. I should think I'll need some money by then though, hmm....... :P
-
Already have Zelda and the Twilight Princess just need to check that I have a 2GB mem card.
;) ;D
-
Anyone who has a Wii Do Not Update to 4.2
You can still get stuff to work, but it has taken me about 2 days to get it right. (I was shitting myself in case I bricked it) PM me for further info. ;D
-
I'd stink at it, but I kind of want the new Red Steel so I could sword fight.
http://www.ubi.com/US/Games/Info.aspx?pId=7795
-
red steel looks fun !
-
^ I know.. but I'd so suck at it :D I'd just madly slash at things :P

Does anyone have Monster Hunter Tri yet?

just picked up a Wii Mini, which i think they only produced in Canada, no wifi or backword compatable, and can't be modded, but the refurb was only $45 (new is $99). got Big League Sports Summer. and Super Mario Bros. Galaxy, planning ahead for Winter ;D
-
Check out the Metroid Prime: Trilogy (http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/7y8SXfbq4nlR_ZO15BY3yHdKL7erLAnk).
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/Q2rIG5BucX14piFd7oIbeGNYJKpmF90w) was the game that got my gal into gaming. She got so excited she smacked me in the head with the Wii-mote while swinging her sword. Wish I had video, she was a riot.
Resident Evil 4 (https://www.nintendo.com/games/gameGuide?term=Resident%20Evil%204%20Wii%20Edition&source=search) was the best game I played on the Wii.

I really love my Wii. Mine is heavily modded, but just the basic system is quite fun by itself. A lot of people put it down for having gimmicky controls or complain about the SD graphics, but the games are fun and that's all that matters to me.
-
The residents at the assisted living facility my gal works at have Wii bowling tournaments.

That's fantastic. People of all ages like Wii sports. My daughter and my husband play "Olympics" every once in a while.
-
I threw out my shoulder and elbow Wii boxing. ;D
-
^ ;D
if it ever starts to ache or bother you, you can tell people it's an old boxing injury ;D
that's the main reason i got it, some of the games look fun, like bowling, boxing, darts, golf, etc., oh, and Mario Brothers.
-
I got mine for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Amazon (http://www.amazon.ca/Nintendo-Selects-Legend-Twilight-Princess/dp/B004ZJZF8E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378611228&sr=8-1&keywords=The+Legend+of+Zelda%3A+Twilight+Princess) CDN$ 22.58) but mostly played Resident Evil 4 (~40 playthroughs on Pro Difficulty)(Amazon (http://www.amazon.ca/Capcom-35003-Resident-Evil-4/dp/B000P46NKC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378611042&sr=8-1&keywords=Resident+Evil+4+nintendo) CDN$ 9.99). I suck at bowling and basically all the sports games. The only sports game I was/am any good at is Kinect ping pong on the Xbox. Shooters are my preference.
I think I paid $49.99 for Metroid Prime Trilogy in a metal case. Now GameStop wants $69.99 for it used in regular cases. Great games though.
-
and Mario Brothers.
My daughter plays Mario Kart. Annoying music.
-
Gamestop loves false inflation.
Then again, everyone is getting in on the game. I was going to pick up copies of Resident Evil 2 and 3 for either psx or PC, but they're in the $300 range on amazon, and I had enough of a headache getting the first game on ebay. (Seller was British, wanted GBP, then after paypal calculated it, wanted more money.)
He didn't get more money, and ebay made him ship the game, but it was quite the stupid hassle.
Nintendo has discontinued the weather channel and news channel on the original Wii.

Looks like Microsoft flip flopped on some of their policies.
From an email they sent me...

i've only played Super Mario Bros. on original Nintendo back in the day, but loved it, so i just got Super Mario Galaxy, which supposed to be closest thing to it.
