Title: Infocom Games
Post by: frankcapri on March 23, 2009, 06:36:36 PM
Ever yearn for some really fun and challenging text games from way back when?

Wishbringer and Enchanter are fairly easy.

If you beat Zork III or Spellbreaker without using walk-throughs and hints, you are my idol.

Bonus!

You're a bugger frank.  I have just spent half an hour playing Zork and I cannot get the map I have plotted out of my head.  Not only that, I just needed a pee and I stood outside the toilet door for 5 minutes saying "open".. nothing happened?

Maybe the syntax recognizer is picky in your home.  Try "open door" or even "open bathroom door".
Who knows, maybe your residence would prefer you tried to pee in a potted plant for some
bizarre adventure game reason.

Hallway

You are in your hallway.  Your living room is to the south and your bedroom is to the north.
The bathroom door on the east wall is closed.

There is a potted plant here.

You have to pee very badly

It's ok now.  The fault was it didn't have a voice identifier but works fine now I have installed a keyboard outside it.  I am still working on how to make it flush though.

The game does not recognize the word "handle"

I remember playing the game Sorcerer for a month in my pre-teens.
I drew out maps, dreamed about how to solve puzzles and generally
got immersed in the whole thing.  I was really proud of my little nerd
self when I actually beat it.

I still think they're some of the most challenging games ever made.
