Staying up late is for cool kids
« on: March 17, 2013, 11:13:03 PM »
I'm really bored and can't fall asleep. And there's no one home to chat with since its a national drinking holiday. I downloaded a bunch of music. I could read. I really don't want to get out of bed. I feel kinda moody.
Anyway, why are YOU up late?

I never sleep.  When it's late, I hang suspended from the ceiling, like a bat.

I am awake until around 2 or 3am usually and then I get up around 7.30am.  I figure that when my time comes I'd have only slept for about 20% of my life rather than 33%, however, I'd have been grumpy for about 79.6% of it due to sleep deprivation.
Don't put off until tomorrow, what you can put off until the day after.

There is an exception to every rule, apart from this one.

I go to bed by 9 or 10--sometimes earlier.
I'm an uncool kid.
Estragon: I can't go on like this.

Experts sleep researchers divide human beings into two different categories: the lark, those who rise early and go to sleep early and the owls, they prefer to stay up late at night and sleep late in the morning.
I am an owl but I have to wake up early, so as Smokester , I am sometimes grumpy...

yeah, insomnia is a real bugger. i usually don't get to sleep 'till around 1:00 a.m., wake up around 4:30 - 5:30, toss and turn 'till about 7, then get up, then spend the day tired.

Me too.

Some nights I want to go to sleep but my body doesn't wanna. Like tonight.

I have a routine now, but it's stilll a bit squirrely.  And I am up entirely too early, the kids sleep in though.  That's how I've made it  8)  And it's not like I can't stay up late anymore, but I hit 1 a.m. and it's over for me, I am actually nodding in and out. So.. still a cool insomniac kid?  Maybe.

I helped a friend clean up after a 23 person seder.  My hands are pruny from three hours of non stop dishwashing.  I could do this as a career, but I'm so wound up I can't sleep.  Somehow, I don't feel cool.

There was a period in my life which lasted years during which, if it was past 2 in the morning, I would simply stay up all night and go to work or whatever and then go to bed the following night. Of course, most of this behavior was alcohol and drug-fueled.
Since the mid 1990's I tend to go to bed fairly early and get up really early. It is now around 4:00 in the morning.

I've had periods where I'd get up around noon and stay up until around 6 a.m. writing.  No substances involved, just convenience.
