Title: Color ware
Post by: mishca09 on April 04, 2012, 04:38:35 PM
Colorware is a company where you can get your phone etc painted any color you want. It's ricdiously expensive. I was wondering if anyone here has ever attempted to paint there phone? I was thinking about painting mine with spray paint. :) Im not sure that will turn out so well.

I strip a lot of phones to get donor parts but have never thought about painting them, perhaps I should have.  This guy seems to have a fairly basic tutorial that at least demonstrates the process well, even if the end result is a bit questionable in my opinion.

I got over doing something like this when I heard a guy spray painted his Razer Boomslang mouse and didn't take proper precautions.  He ended up ruining it (it was a $80 mouse back when $30 was VERY expensive for a mouse).

Im worried about that too! I was thinking starting small and just spray painting the back cover of the phone.

You should only ever work on the casing and nowadays even the screen is fully removable so there shouldn't be any part painted that has circuitry attached. That said, you must ensure a light, even covering with the paint otherwise it won't click back together well if at all.

More of a talking point if you did it yourself I suppose.

If I ever considered it, I'd probably get my six year old daughter to do it as it would undoubtedly be better than any effort I could make.
