Title: Evolution of a Painting
Post by: JackFrost on August 04, 2009, 03:25:40 PM
So, if you read my SDCC threads, you might have noticed the sequence of pics peppering the threads showing artist Mark Texeira creating a cover painting for a Planet of the Apes book series.

Mark never finished it at the Con but finally did at BatDan's house the following week, so I was finally able to snap the finished product. So here, just for shits and giggles, is the entire sequence in on go:

Here's the preliminary drawing:

And here's the finished piece at full size:

A very talented man indeed.  Sadly, that kind of eye-hand coordination has always alluded me and even my stick figures end up looking like pipe cleaners.

:D  Me too. If I could draw, or paint.. I'd do that all day..endlessly :-\

It's very cool to see them all together Jack. It was cool on the other thread to see the build up...but even neater placed all together.

nice, I can't wait to see the comic book.

That's what I was thinking.  It's really cool to see what goes on behind the scenes then the final product,
especially from someone with great talent.

It's also funny to think that painting got made while watching Family Guy and the Best of Real Sex among other things  ;D

It's the cover for a book in a text novel series, so this is the only piece Tex will do. ;)

Remember when you mentioned in the SDCC threads about getting the experience without the BO - it kind of applies here, too...  ;) :D

We also watched some Daily Show and Colbert Report and several of the South Park discs I brought with me. Tex loves South Park but never watches it when it's on regularly for some reason. I caught him watching FOX "News" one morning when I got up and I had to tell him to change that poo.

He also likes to listen to music when he watches TV, which I just find to be distracting either one way or the other.
