Everybody has I'm sure heard this story.. but it was still too good not to post :D
The Best Job Walk-Off Ever.
This man deserves a plaque or something: A JetBlue flight attendant fed up with a rude passenger took to the airplane's PA system to cuss out the man, then grabbed two beers, activated, and slid down the emergency inflatable slide, and went home Monday. As the plane was landing, the passenger sprung up to get his baggage from the overhead bin; flight attendant Steven Slater told him to sit down, and the man refused. The baggage fell on Slater's head, but instead of apologizing, the passenger cussed at him. So Slater grabbed the microphone and said, "To the passenger who called me a fool, golly you? I've been in the business 28 years. I've had it. That's it." Slater slid away and drove home, where he was arrested on charges of criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and trespassing. Several Facebook pages have popped up supporting Slater and his I-can't-take-it-anymore act, the kind most Americans have only dreamed of.

..except^ I actually heard it was a woman that had cussed him out.. I just posted the story as someone emailed it to me a couple of days ago. I'll link the official story when I get home.

:o I want to be animated! I need ot think of something news worthy to earn it :D
-
If someone slammed my head in an overhead bin, I'd have them arrested, rather than have a breakdown.
-
Yeah, I was wondering about that, wouldn't the passenger be held accountable in some way?
-
I think people bonded with this story for the unfairness of it. And, the fact life isn't fair. And lots of jobs are crappy. It's not possible to file a lawsuit or criminal charges every time someone gets in your face in life.. I didn't see it as the guy having a break down as much as him making a flamboyant exit complete with the message ridden statement of his actions.
-
Pretty sure slamming his head in the overhead bin would count as assault, not just "shitty customer".
-
"criminal mischief"? that sounds like my kind of crime.
At least the attendant didn't kick the obnoxious passenger in the goolies (which would have been my preferred reaction), and to be honest, I am hard pushed to understand any of the subsequent charges?
-
I heard a news blurb last night that the guy is kind of a douche.. which, if true, makes the whole story a tad disappointing. I was picturing him as a cool albeit fed-up rogue :P

and of course he is now getting a reality show
The JetBlue flight attendant would help "disgruntled workers quit their jobs in extravagant ways,"
yeah....this couldn't possibly go wrong

That's so f'd-up. I had to go hunt the news story and read it myself. The whole original cool thing is that it seemed unmeditated.
-
It was heavily talked about and parodied on The Bob And Tom show...good stuff.
-
That's a nice exit but who'd want to hire anyone after ragequitting like that?
-
Apparently a reality TV show :D
