Title: YouTube Bands & Albums
Post by: indie180 on January 22, 2009, 08:14:27 AM
Post a couple of YouTube clips of your favourite Band or album or just what you are listening to at the moment.

Here's a couple of tracks from "the greatest album ever made" quoted from their wiki page.  ;D

Echo & the Bunnymen - Ocean Rain

I see what you mean about the shivers. That's the first time I have heard of Mortal Coil, but it won't be the last.  ;)

I liked what I heard. Thanks.

Liz Fraser has such a wide ranging talent. She sang with the Cocteau Twins, did the vocals on several tracks for Massive Attack (she sang Teardrop while pregnant) and she sang Gandalf's Lament for the Fellowship Of The Rings. There are a lot of good singers, but IMO she is in a league of her own.

Echo and Coil, I like this thread already...

Love this song. Love this video. Love this band.

Gorillaz - El Ma?ana

Same goes for these guys, but I wish I had better video:

Radiohead - Arpeggi/Weird Fishes (Live in San Diego 2006) [The song is different now that it's been recorded, this version is better IMO]

I am usual stuck in a kinda 80's time warp when it come's to music, so I think this thread is going to be great for me. I can listen to bands that I have heard of, but not actual hear and some great bands that I have never heard of before.

I am looking forward to hearing what everyone is in to, so far everything has been great ear cindy ;D

i like this a lot. jason mraz - i'm yours. i post this version, as it shows that he is a showman. when after 4 mins or so and you think the tune is finished........he carries on and it's really good :D

This Mortal Coil - Song To The Siren (live). It still sends shivers down my spine.
a fantastic song ( preferred the b side though).
she is one of the best around in her genre.
the later stuff from the coil became very dark.they lacked her voice.

echo - one of the best songs ever for me.
gorillaz - so so for me I'm afraid.some songs i adore some i hate  :D
radiohead - what can be said about them. awesome springs to mind. a fantastic version.

these are one of my favourite bands . the blue nile.
i saw these play live at a local art house.
martin stephenson and the daintees. he was as high as a kite  :D
played about 4 songs all night as he kept restarting the song all the time  ;D :D :D

Jason Mraz - decent little ditty...
Blue Nile - The remind me of other 80s bands, I'll listen again and see if I can figure out who...
Martin Stephenson - I'm not against musicians getting wasted (it makes them very creative), but when you can't even play, that's a bit much...  :D

echo - one of the best songs ever for me.
gorillaz - so so for me I'm afraid.some songs i adore some i hate  :D
radiohead - what can be said about them. awesome springs to mind. a fantastic version.

Echo - I'm kinda interested in that All Night version of Killing Moon indie showed there... love that song.  :)
Gorillaz - Their second album Demon Days is where I fell for them. DD is in another galaxy creatively and musically than the first eponymous album.
Radiohead - They are the bee's knees for sure, and sorry that vid cuts off. That was the fist time I'd ever heard that song (I didn't make the video, I was just at the show) I was completely mesmerized, the audio on that vid just doesn't do it justice...

U.N.K.L.E. - Rabbit in Your Headlights (feat. Thom Yorke) (This video is fantastic, by the by...)

U.N.K.L.E. - An Eye for An Eye

Jelly?s Last Jam are a four-piece indie band based in the North West of England. With infectious melodies and grooves, and energetic performances from frontman Paul Byrne they have gained a reputation in the North West as being a remarkable live band.

The first single, ?Alibi?, will be available as a digital download from March 16th, 2009.

a sample of it can be listened to at http://www.myspace.com/jellyslastjam

one of my pals is in the band. this is a tune called parasite, i hope ya like it

loads more youtube vids posted on their homepage: http://s235468517.websitehome.co.uk/jlj/index.php?mact=News,cntnt01,detail,0&cntnt01articleid=2&cntnt01returnid=15

Totally!

My current favorite record is all in Russian and I don't understand a word, but I still think it's fantastic!

Oingo Boingo - Little Girls

As a point of reference, that red-headed guy singing? That's Danny Elfman, whom you probably recognize more as a soundtrack composer, but this was the band he fronted in the '80s. They were a great band, especially live...

No, it's The Armoury Show. I adored that song when I was a teenager :)

Was Richard Jobson such a dickwad? I've read interviews with him and he comes across as a grounded and sensible man, but maybe he wasn't always like that.

Edited to add The Gun Club

It's essentially what Napster used to be, but because no one's ever heard of it, it doesn't have the name recognition. I mean really, does SoulSeek really sound like an awesome, easy to use p2p music client?

I've found poo on there that I thought I'd never find. In fact, frankcapri asked if anyone had this record he'd been looking for and couldn't find and I found it there.

I highly recommend SoulSeek...

There is a BBC show called "The Seven Ages of Rock", you should see it (you and Frank would like it  ;D ) if you can't find it let me know.  ;D

This is not the clip from the indie section of the show, but in the show the venom The Libertine's put in to singing "Can't stand me now", it's a band self destructing.

Sorry I must have missed your post. All the supporting act's were great, Oasis were ok.  :-\ Liam Gallagher is a boring scallywag who sang every song with his hands in his pockets, this is the most active he got. I like Noel better.

LOL.. that makes sense... he is sort of very 'rock and roll'..  :D ..still.. some of the band's favorite songs of mine he sings, so... what is, is :P

..and I had wondered about Kasabian. They're one of those bands I always want to track down and listen to, becasue I like enough of what I hear then I blow it off, and forget ::)

@laama - What, no Ace of Spades?

Plus, you can't forget 'Eat the Rich'  :D

Both feature Danny MacAskill (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_MacAskill), they are filmed in Edinburgh.

You should watch them in full screen.
