Title: Are You Lucky
Post by: indie180 on June 15, 2009, 04:52:14 PM
Does anyone have a run of luck. ?

I am going to see Oasis,Kasabian, and The Enemy at Murrayfield, Edinburgh on Wednesday. I am taking the oldest of the kids.

If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have luck at all.  ;D

Well my run of luck seems to be holding up. I banged my ankle up bad this morning, with the pain I had I thought I'd broken it. Been in A&E most of the day, but it's not broken just torn all the ligaments.

And yes it hurt's like a S.O.B The images don't show the depth of black, blue and purple that has turned up already.

It will probably be in more technicolor in the morning. I may post more images.

If you are as lucky as me, please tell all.  ;D

Brother, I know injuries like that lol

Back in april of 2005 I was suposed to take on MACE in Jayton Texas for the Southern Extreme title. That was a MAJOR thing for me. In a practice match a few hours before the show with Kid Scream I sprained my knee, so I didnt get to make the match happen.
Then in august, after some serious rehab, I took the title from MACE, and had to be treated for blood loss lol.
Another incident, back in 1988, I was going to go see Cheap Trick and Dokken. A day before the show, I had been swimming in a local river, and cut my foot quite severely on some submerged glass.
I had 13 stitches. Now on the night of the show, it was AWSOME!
But,,,I had torn out the stitches while at the concert and had to have them replaced after the show, and after some severe bleeding.
Seems if I have something good happen, something bad happens too to balance it out. I just cant enjoy myself lol

I just went over on it on the last couple of steps(or last step).(stairs)

I was wearing a pair of Airwalk skate shoe's which are reinforced on the outside edge (for doing kick flip's and poo like that) at first I thought that was to blame for the injury, but when the bruising come out at the bottom of my foot . Maybe it saved me for a worst injury.  :-\

8 weeks they said at the A&E, depending on how much I stay off it.  :-\

Next 2-3 weeks you must be extremely careful and recovery is much faster.

Once I broke my leg when I skated. It was my first and last time on ice skates.
Also, I have a serious ingrown nail problem on my feet. I had several operations already. But whenever one nail gets better, the other one get worse. If you want to see some really nasty stuff, I can show you some photos....

I am going to the Oasis concert in two day's and I am the driver. That's what worries me, will after standing on for 6/8 hrs will I be able to hit the brakes (if I need to) on the way home.

I would need to take a bus and two trains to get there. The gig will finish around midnight, so I will miss my connection.  :-\ Not going to risk it.

I once had a match where I did some amazing poo. Im talking noteworthy in the annals of wrestling history lol.
I mean it was AWSOME!. On the way to the car afterwoards, I twisted my ankle and had a stage two sprain. I still have problems with it, and that was three years ago.

Yikes, indie, that's a nasty injury!

Good to see you're recovering nicely....  ;D

But I've got a pic of my buddy Tom that will make you feel much better about what happened to you.

Naturally, there's a story involved:

Tom and I went to the Grand Canyon a couple of years back (first visit for both of us since we were wee) and ended up at a certain point on the northern end of the canyon where the grade isn't as sheer and there are actually paths to walk on. However, you're still in for a hell of a drop if you fall...

Anyway, Tom spotted this outcropping that jutted out peninsula-like from the pathways out over the canyon. We decided to check it out, and when I got there, I noticed two large boulders laid deliberately so they block the passage out onto the outcropping. The one on my left came up past my shoulder, while the one on the right came up to my shoulder, but sloped at a 30-something degree angle and is covered with tiny pebbles.

I stopped to survey the situation and see what the best way over would be, and the next thing I know, Tom's standing on the sloped rock. Before I can tell him to get down, he starts sliding. He stupidly tried to keep his balance which just served to add to his momentum down the slope.

I jump out as far as i can and try to grab him and feel his shirt just slip by my fingers and I slap down on the rock. Tom slides off the edge of the rock, drops into the soft dirt and pitches forward - no way 'round it, Tom's going into the canyon.

Tom scrambles for and grabs a dead tree that's on the edge of the outcropping and it whips him around quickly, and just as his waist disappears over the edge, the tree holds. I'm not sure how, but I jumped over the rock to quickly help him back up.

It's then that he tells me he thinks he's broken his ankle - actually, he damn near had the foot snap off the ned of his leg. Fortunately for Tom there just happened to be a paramedic up above where we were who was on vacation, but still had his gear and came to rescue Tom.

At any rate, the ankle was indeed broken, and Tom being the weird cat that he was, wanted a picture of it from his perspective:

Spoiler (hover to show)

There's even one of the paramedic wearing purple gloves giving a thumbs-up, but it reminds me too much of Abu Ghirab photos...  :D

But anyway, I'll betcha feel better already, eh?

Ouch ! That looks like it was a bad one.  :(

My ankle looks a lot worse today, all the bruising has started to come out but there not much pain and I can walk about on it. I will be going tomorrow.

My sister always sends my the e-mail chain letters(you know the ones "forward to another 10 people and you will forever be lucky"), she knows I just delete them, thus breaking the chain.

I have had nothing but sadness and bad luck for the last couple of years.  :-\

I did the same thing slipping on ice a couple of years ago New Years Eve. I knew it wasn't broken, I never break bones, but everyone made me go get it an x-ray. They said I'd be on crutches until spring. heh.. right. I ditched those things after a week and just hopped everywhere :P

I hope you made it/make it through the day ok. I doubt I'd give up tickets either :)

Had a great night. I think it was a sell-out about 70,000 of a crowd ;D

After a two hour drive to get to Edinburgh, we parked the car about a 20 min walk from stadium (1/2 hr walk for me  :D)

We had General Admission tickets "Allows access to seats in lower stand or standing on pitch", so we went for the seats.  ;D

5pm - Reverend & The Makers

6pm - The Enemy

7pm - Kasabian

8:30pm - Oasis

Only had to stand for the two hours Oasis was on as everybody stood to see them, got home about 1 this morning.

Managed to go through the whole day and night without any pain killers.

Glad you managed to enjoy yourself indie.

I am unlucky.  Especially around my birthday.

Relatives always end up in hospital or dying on my birthday month.

Or we get flooded.  Happened at all the apartment buildings we lived in: third, fourth and fifth floor.

And the universe seems to be telling me something.  Got that a couple of weeks ago.  Not self inflicted.
