All Music Guide sez that The Number of the Beast is their best.  Do you agree with that?
Title: Iron Maiden thread
Post by: MisterAJ on January 29, 2009, 11:21:12 PM
Among the best, at least...

But I think the time it came out has a lot to say for its "legendary" status...

(Christians burning it because it was demonic... Christians running away from the smoke
coming from the fire they started, because that too had to be demonic... ROFL...)

I have been on one of their shows, from the A Matter of Life and Death tour. Great performance and a really amusing show it was.  ;D

As for the movie, I haven't heard of it, but I cannot wait for its release!!!

If you mean if their music is great, yes it is.  :)
Except maybe A Matter of Life and Death.
I didn't like it much.  :(

Taking the term "iron maiden" literally, I think of the sex scene between Uther Pendragon and Arthur's mom in the movie "Excalibur".

Iron maiden is actually a torture device:

I know that, I went to a comprehensive school (christ will spit when he reads that).

I was trying to envisage an iron maiden and wondered if anyone had encountered one, stranger things have happened at sea...

I find Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son a bit too long.  :-\

Another great one is Powerslave.

As for Run to the Hills, I cry sometimes, it so good.  ;D

The Iron Maiden herself ^

And what about Aces High?

Masterpiece!

The very first Maiden song i heard...

I was 7... my cousin was watching Alive after Death, from Long Beach Arena...

It was kinda scary, me never having heard metal until that time, only having
heard "Oh, metal... dangerous... turns you into a penguin... oh..." Bull poo...

And, of course, being a kid, my reaction was "Oh, no... a flightless bird... Aaaah!!!"

UNTIL I heard Iron Maiden...

Saw the big Eddie sarcophagus in the background...

Bruce banging his head back and forth at the end...

I was SPELLBOUND...

Then my mom yanked me away and said "Thats not suitable for you..."

 >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Turns out it was EXACTLY that!

Very much suitable...

Man, I wish I got to see them this year... :'(

Upcoming movie...

The still image before you load the video, is from the stadium that they played last year here. It's like 10 minutes from my house. I was in the second row.

Only bad things was to wait 4 hours with a poo ass DJ that profaned a lot of classical songs, and Harris daughter was to punk pop for maiden fans. Great thing about begin an Spanish speaker is that you could call the members of her band faggots and they thought it was a compliment. They were like Poison.

Yeah, she wasn't great... (Cute, though...)

But everybody and his grandma' could see her entire band was made up of Daddy's old friends...

She should be in a band with people her own age, making it on her own...

You were left out of the refrigerator too long.

I used to go on bus trips for high school and I would pop in an Iron Maiden cassette, blast it up, and fall asleep.  It worked better than random noises around the bus.

I got into maiden when Maiden Japan came out.
I used to pop the cassette in and blast it .
I think I had to police called on me so many times as a teenager for that we were all on a first name basis.
One of the cops got mean autographed copy of  Powerslave for my bday one year.

I felt the concert went faster than the last one, but they played more songs.. Last time Bruce talked more to the people, made more comments, this time he maybe talked 3 times. And The line I dunno, I felt more excitement last year, but golly I enjoyed the show. Rime, Fear, Number, Evil that men do...

1. Aces High
2. 2 Minutes To Midnight
3. Wrathchild
4. Children of the Damned
5. Phantom of the Opera
6. The Trooper
7. Wasted Years
8. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
9. Powerslave
10. Run To The Hills
11. Fear of the Dark
12. Hallowed Be Thy Name
13. Iron Maiden
- encore -
14. The number of the beast
15. The Evil That Men Do
16. Sanctuary

And they put the Bruce Dickinson version of "Always look on the bright side of life"

People didn't treat Lauren bad this time.

But the line was awesome we went there at 9 am, started getting in at 6 pm (was supposed to be 3 pm), there was a guy bless'ed sunny, totally wasted, selling bear, sell one, he drank 3, felt on a hole at the side of the street.

I love when girls walk by in skirts, acting like they don't want to be whistled and poo, but there was a school, and damn, a bunch of 30 somethings following 14 year old XD
