There are some new features for Diasfora as we usher in the new year, and we hope that it will improve the time you spend here.
The first new feature is the ability to ignore certain boards if you choose to do so. We feel this is important as we have grown far beyond just being a small gaming community and for some, the games may just be a distraction as they were to some on Demonoid. Now you can effectively hide the posts from that board (and/or others) so the recent post list won't be chock-a-block full of "Name that" or whatever and it won't show up in "unread posts". You will still be able to see the board if you suddenly develop a penchant for forum games, but they shouldn't ever irritate you with this new option. Of course this also applies to many boards, but some are not available in your ignore list.
To utilise it simply go to your profile and you will see the new option there depending on which way you have your's set (see examples below) and "checking" them will add them to your ignore settings.

We are also adding a new "Darkside" board which is intended for "Rant" threads and stuff that generally pisses you off. This does not mean that you are not allowed to post your dislike of things discussed elsewhere on the boards, but we would rather you start your own threads about something you feel incensed about enough to continually comment negatively on it. If we take the Christmas thread as an example: the thread itself was wishing people some happiness over the festive period and not offering up a debate, however, some continually thought it would be a good practice to constantly counter that message of good will and substitute their own take on the subject. Whilst you are perfectly entitled to voice your opinions on Xmas - that thread was not the place to do it and we will make a new thread in the right place with the comments that are not appropriate there.
But in all honesty the new Darkside board is meant to be a bit of fun and we have even made it stand out a bit more. The normal rules apply there about content but be aware the board will remain uncensored so that people's true sentiment can be read and understood.
There are some other bits and bobs that have been added you may notice around the place, and as usual please report anything that has broken for you after these updates.
