I love a lot of things, makes it hard to narrow it down. :P
But I'll have to go with cheese for now. :)
Seeing freinds I havent seen much lately ;D
A good book and a nice rainy day with a fire and someone I love cuddled up to me.
-
All of the above.
-
The Interweb
-
A nice glass of wine, slow jazz on the stereo turned down low, dim lighting, and the company of a good female freind.
-

I think I love almonds. I know I like them, better then any other nut. But, it sounds a little silly to say I 'love' them. I am eating them right now though.. and they are good.

So its YOUR dog now is it? I remember a few months ago when Harry came to live with you when he was THEIR dog. ;D

-
I love the sound fo thunder in the distance on a hot summer night.
-
Snow. I know I listed it on the 'hate' thread too in some way.. at least I think I did...
anyway.. Today, I love it. It's falling in big wet thick flakes so big they look like white bird feathers falling. Or, then it snows harder and looks like a snowglobe. Everything is so surreal and beautiful, it looks like a model railroad scene, or a movie set.
-
Afternoon naps.
-
^ LOL.. there is a fine line between love and hate ::)

Going to a used book shop and finding that rare gem youve been looking for.
I found a signed copy of Fred Saberhagen's First Book Of Swords today!
I got it for only a 1.50 USD.

-
I love the smell of a summer storm aproaching.
-
^There's nothing about spring that doesn't smell good. Even dirt smells amazing. I rode by the hardware store yesterday and could smell all the mixture of gardening supplies sitting outside the front of the store. The combined smells all smelled like heaven.
-
I love a cool breeze on a hot summer night. Or the smell of freshly cut hay.
-
I like the sound of a hay field a couple weeks after it's been mowed. The remaining parts of the hay shoots dry, and make an eerie lonely crackly sound that's impossible to describe.
-
Its nice when you hear that late at night when a soft breeze comes through.
I love the sounds of the crickests and frogs in the distance at night.
-
I live by a pond where they're REALLY loud :D I'll record it later in the year when they start to come out. It's so loud it's kind of funny.

Go on, call me 'skinny' again. Why? because it has been... nope, come to think of it I have never been called 'skinny'.
I am in truth rather chunky.
-
Ive have seen countless pics of you, let alone that dream I had where you were a tyrant and I was looking for flaws in you, and you are no where near chunky. I think a Brits idea of chunky and an Americans idea of chunky are to different things.
-
He's a fatty, fatastic, fathead. :P
-
I used to be quite 'beefy' but beef does have a habit of turning to chunk if left to its own devices.
Never been 'skinny' I can assure you.

Fond memories of lost loved ones and freinds.

I'm sorry RG. Wait, if you're blissfully alone, then I shouldn't be sorry, should I?

Happy Meal stays forever young
Forget ?where?s the beef?? - where?s the mold? It?s the latest front in the fast food wars: What does a Happy Meal look like after it sits out for six months?
A New York City photographer took a Happy Meal burger and fries and photographed it every few days for more than six months. The result: day one's photo looks almost identical to day 180. No mold, no decay - it?s the Happy Meal fountain of youth.
?The Happy Meal Project? has raised a ruckus. People love it or hate it, just as they love or hate fast food.
As it turns out, lots of folks have been saving Big Macs and other fast food fare to bolster the argument that they must be full of preservatives - one guy even has a hamburger museum. But, a neutral food scientist we talked to blames the lack of decomposition on low moisture rather than anything dastardly.

Dunno what's wrong with me but I've never liked pumpkin. For Thanksgiving, my grandma would always make a couple peanut butter pies for me....soooooo good. *drool*
-
^ I bet there's lots of people who don't like pumpkin. I just like things that are tied to the specific season I'm in. I'm corny that way. Plus, when I was little my mom only bought 1 pumpkin pie once a year, so I was lucky if I got 1/2 a slice. So, as an adult I put pumpkin in lots of things.

This is my favorite swimming pool. I have loved this place ever since I was a little girl. The resort, if you can call it that, sits in the middle of a hacienda. My friends used to climb to the roof of the building in front of the pool and jump off it. I once climbed up with them intending to jump too but the caretakers saw me and immediately sent someone to get me off the roof. They kept an eye on me after that.
The land behind that building slopes down gently leading to a small river. When we got bored playing in the pool, we'd go to the river and bathe there. Of course, there was always the risk that a carabao was bathing upriver but we didn't think about that.
This is the only pool that I know of that is filled with running water. The water comes from the mountains and flows freely all the time. When we were younger, you could drink the water from the pipes. It is also the only pool I know of that is drained and scrubbed clean every week. I used to help. ;D
It was a bit cloudy yesterday and I suck at taking pics but I really love this place.

-
A friend told me it looked mediocre and I agree that it is looks wise and amenities wise. But no one can beat the drained and cleaned every single week and uses running water aspects of it. I don't care what the dude says, I love this place.

The trees all around the pool are really pretty.

Thank you hmed. I used to climb those trees.

I just upgraded my "test" box to 11.10 and THEN tried to install Gnome 3 (cuz I hate Unity and 11.10 got rid of Ubuntu Classic). I hate it. Evidently Gnome 3 is best installed on a clean install, not an upgrade. So, I'm now currently on the hunt for a new replacement build. Wouldn't mind staying with a Debian-based build--I prefer apt-get and we have some Debian-based servers at work--but am considering Gentoo or ArchLinux too.

Yip, I'm an undernourished veggie. That happens to be at least a stone overweight.
I love finely chopped Thai chilis in my scrambled eggs in the morning, then while your mouth is still burning, taking a swig of hot tea or coffee to get that unique reaction.

That sounds good, I love spicey food.
I've been wanting to experiment witth vegetarianism since highschool but I love fish and chicken too much. I could completely give up steak and other kinds of meat since I'm not too fond of dark meats to begin with, but giving up chicken and fish would definitely be a huge challenge. As far as fruits and vegetables go, I already enjoy plenty of that and recently changed my diet to a strict regimen. Once Ramadan is over, it's back to the gym for me, full force. Anybody care to join? ;D

How cool is this:
From: [email protected] (Linus Benedict Torvalds)
Newsgroups: comp.os.minix
Subject: What would you like to see most in minix?
Summary: small poll for my new operating system
Message-ID: <[email protected]>
Date: 25 Aug 91 20:57:08 GMT
Organization: University of Helsinki
Hello everybody out there using minix -
I’m doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby, won’t be big and
professional like gnu) for 386(486) AT clones. This has been brewing
since april, and is starting to get ready. I’d like any feedback on
things people like/dislike in minix, as my OS resembles it somewhat
(same physical layout of the file-system (due to practical reasons)
among other things).
I’ve currently ported bash(1.08) and gcc(1.40), and things seem to work.
This implies that I’ll get something practical within a few months, and
I’d like to know what features most people would want. Any suggestions
are welcome, but I won’t promise I’ll implement them :-)
Linus ([email protected])
PS. Yes – it’s free of any minix code, and it has a multi-threaded fs.
It is NOT protable (uses 386 task switching etc), and it probably never
will support anything other than AT-harddisks, as that’s all I have :-(.

I just love that :D

I just love that :D
When I get the chance(and obviously the money) I want to buy a MacBook Pro and give it an honest whirl. I love how it's technically the largest Unix-like out there in both use and well, size(software support, etc). I could just as easily say that Linux is larger but that wouldn't be entirely accurate given the large number of distros and contrary to mainstream belief, I actually find too many choices and too many options a huge weakness for Linux as a whole.
My main gripe with Mac OS X though is its extremely closed nature and the philosophy that stands behind it - courtesy of Apple. Meh, so who knows, that was my 2 minute rant, anybody else? :D
Technically I'm a piscatarian, but I don't eat farmed fish.
Ah, so that's the word for it. I always wondered why vegetarians were split between fish-eating and non, and often wondered if that's why Veganism opted to fill in that gap. Interesting.
-
I should have actually said "pescatarian" but the word is really still in its infancy and hardly anyone recognises it in restaurants, so I don't coin it very often.
Have I said I love beer already?
-
I first came across the word when somebody told me they were a fishtarian, and mentioned you could also get eggtarians. I had to look it up, and did point out to her, many weeks later, that she probably meant pescatarian and ovatarian. 8)
I don't think I'd want to ever meet that version of me, I was weird.

I got the one with 3G because I wanted the free internet. It kills the battery hella quickly though. It's also a sponsored one (from da States), which is why I get adverts.

It's the 3D software that I use and have taught him a little bit of (damn! there's that preposition ending again - I really must restart my brain).
3D stuff is very intuitive and I can understand his curiosity, but as I am so out of practice myself it is incredibly hard work explaining complex stuff to him.

Speaking of matte, I did painting over the weekend. It looks good. The new carpet we put in that room isn't very nice though, but what's important is that it was affordable. I like it when I can afford something, I love it when it's something I actually want .

Fortunately, replicator scientists were able to scan a very small sample of chocolate lent to them by the Fifth House of Betazed, which is why it still exists in replicators.

When I was a kid, getting new socks on my birthday or at Christmas was the biggest disappointment a child could have. Oddly, as soon as I turned 18 I stopped getting them which was exactly the same time I really needed a regular supply.

As a kid's present they completely suck. Is it that stuffed animal I wanted? Nope, it's SOCKS! Giving kids practical gifts is just mean.

I don't like dishwashers as I don't think they clean well enough.
A "maid" is an interesting idea though.

I always had a dishwasher (love it), can't live without it, and if you put there your dishes without food remains they are much cleaned than if you do it by hands. It is also proved you save water too.

-
I got my daughter's report and she attained level 3 at the end of year 2 which is pretty incredible for her as she far prefers playing than learning, and that score is way above the national average. While I was at the school discussing this, the head stopped me and informed me he had my son's SAT results back and he'd give me them before I left.
My son achieved level 5 across the board and level 6 in math which is just plain magnificent. Not only did he get a level 6 a math, he aced it scoring 11 more than he need to pass. This score is very near a GCSE that he'd finish secondary with and he's still only 10.
The only sad thing is that he is not here as he is at a PGL camp for year 6 kids. He'll be back tomorrow but I miss him desperately.
Right now I love my kids school results.

I can imaging how proud you are!! Congratulations, smokester.
-
I can actually hear smokester swelling with pride...and deservedly so. Well done kids!
-
:)
-
I am very proud of both of them, that's for sure. But in my son's case I am reassured that he has a good and fruitful future if he applies himself, and in this day and age, you really do have to be very near the top to stand any chance of security in life.
I can't imagine a single child that was born in the area I live in, will grow up to be able to afford a house in that same area. Sad, but undeniably true.
-
Congratulations, 'lil smokesters!

The problem is that the goal posts keep moving. Even if my son were to become a doctor, he still wouldn't be able to afford to buy a house in more than half of London.
-
Congratulations on your children's achievements, smokes. That is just great. You have good reason to be pleased, given this reflects well on your nurturing of them.
I'm very tired right now, so if this sounds stiff and formal, it's because I'm about to drop off from fatigue.

I basically quit drinking last August because I lacked the time, but after a while it ended up turning into a personal challenge to go a year without the booze, the hooch, the goofy juice, that dastardly Demon Alcohol. Well, things line up so August 23rd is probably gonna be the day I jump back in with both feet.
I am really looking forward to celebrating my small achievement quietly, but irresponsibly, at home.

Wow, this is unusual! I mean people quit drinking because of health issues. But a personal challenge? That's interesting.
-
Yeah, I quit for health reasons over 10 years ago. My liver was pickled. I really don't miss it much. Maybe a bit at wakes.
-
I found the Alton Brown special on burgers on youtube. I've been looking for that poo since 2000. For those who want to know, it's season two, episode 11.
As a bonus, he talks about how to make a bitchin' meatloaf as well.
I love me a good burger, and I love me a good meatloaf.
-
Wow, this is unusual! I mean people quit drinking because of health issues. But a personal challenge? That's interesting.
I am not someone who can have one beer then walk away, and I am fine with that, but as I get older my recovery time for binges is getting longer and I have to account for that when I start boozing. Last year at this time I couldn't afford the day to day consequences of my binges, so I took the booze out of the equation. When I first stopped, I noticed that simply watching TV or playing video games felt odd without a beer or drink right beside me and that was annoying, so I went on a mission to destroy those developed associations. I know those associations will come back eventually as I incorporate drinking back into my life, but I like knowing I kicked their asses for a year. The only thing I've found I can't do is play Mario Party sober. There is something about that game that makes it great while drunk, but boring and repetitive while sober.
-

It's kind like with smoking. Nicotine dependence lasts a few days. The psychological effects of quitting are way trickier.

On Gardener's Question Time, a lady mentioned her chickens were ruining her plants. Oh they have a clip: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01gl7wh (might not work outside the UK)
-
People let their chickens out in our neighborhood and they eat the snails. That's a good thing. Maybe in this area the snails are gone?
-
Maybe. As far as I've seen, only people living in nice areas and know gardening have chickens, so they could be good at keeping snails out.
When (if?) I get my own place, I'm going to get chickens for my garden, just so people think I'm living comfortably. I'll probably keep them in my front garden to let passer-bys know as well.
They'll need to be brought in during Christmas though; I'll want to live near a city, and those city neighbours cannot be trusted with chickens during Christmas time.
-
Mmmm, chicken.
