Title: Diasfora Signature Competition

There has been some discussion off the boards about carrying Diasfora signatures in other forums so that the site is more accessible.  Some design ideas were thrashed out but with so many gifted members, we thought we'd run a competition to make it more interesting and get a more varied collection for anyone to use.  There are a few rules and after the closing date all entries will be submitted to a poll which will then be open to a public vote.

If titles meant anything, I would still be a mod.

And you will most likely want to use it as a header anyway right?

Im just in it for the fun of doing the design work.

I wouldn't use it as a header as that is locally hosted and our bandwidth would go up by 5 or 10x what it currently is.  Our very light layout keeps us down to about 3GB a month which would allow me to jump host if need be at a minimum cost.

Their are only 2 people (well possibly 1 as AJ has done a bunk) that have their own custom titles so they are still pretty rare, and I would even go as far as a unique membergroup for the winner that could have any description and icon they choose (and custom title).

Anyway, I'm holding out for Dweezy's entry.

Paul, youve been here long enough to know that this was a total set up. Dweez is good at alot of stuff but I dont think graphics has ever been one of his staple accomplishments. Come to think of it.....maybe you should give it a go buddy.

I have a great idea for one but will have to do ALL the animation myself (was trying to find one or two good animated gifs that I could deconstruct and combine for my idea).  I don't think I have the wherewithal to do it myself.

Yeah it's fixed.  I'm going to give Dweezy some exlusive benefits that his own status as Global mod doesn't have. 

Now, if I could only figure out what they could possibly be... ?

Does being an administrator give me the authority to demand the female members get their boobies out for him?  That could be one and if so, I'll definitely rig it.

You wouldn't believe it (well actually you would) but I put a star over the willie in my animation. 

Of course when I did it it was more like 'pinning the tail on the donkey' as I too didn't look at the member in question.

Just a heads-up, but when using the font-size option, adding 'px' allows you better control over the actual size.

What I would like to do but don't know how to do, but someone here just may know how to.

Is make it a ( I think you call it) Hyper-link it. So when you're mouse is hovering over the sig you can click and it will send you to the home page. That's the idea anyway I hope someone will fill me in on that side ;)

OK got a question... that is classed as one sig I submitted. However and this is the thing with design you never make one. You always end up with variations in this case 11 all the same design just different colour schemes.  Can I show them or not? that is the question cheers.  :-\

Sure, I dont see why not. Im sure everyone would be more than happy to give you feedback on which color scheme they like best. Or you could post one copy of the design and show color swatches for people to see. Anyway you choose Im sure will be fine.

Took me an hour or 2 to get that family guy dancing animation to loop so (nearly) seamlessly, when all I should have done was play with some PS settings to get your applause.  In my last one I'm going to include tits which I bet you'll prefer to Aliens?

You're more than likely right my animation was about 10 seconds long, and these days people don't seem to have an attention span much beyond 5 thingmajigs - what was it I was on about again?

The problem is, the more automated a software becomes the less impressive advanced users like yourself and others here seem.  I have the same issue with some CGI software whereby I learned how to painstakingly texture map objects for about a year, and now there is software that does it by a couple of button clicks!

Those new features don't look like anything that couldn't have been done with even the very early versions of PS, however, with them it would have taken hours and the end result could not have been guaranteed.  Very neat indeed.

The words diasfora.co.uk then like a line of fire like there is gunpowder on the floor  ;D then the words exploded. Then form the diasfora.co.uk header/banner ;)

sounds good Paul but i'm working on something with less moment. I'm not that skilled with animation It would take a huge learning curve and I don't have time any time soon.  Yeah I can animate in PS but it's very basic. I would like to have the time/make time! to learn After Effects. Then I could do some awesome effects in my future videos. Maybe this will become my summer project.......

A.E is not too tough but for the best results with it you should be quite adept in Photoshop beforehand.  So you personally have a good advantage already.

Today is the official closing date for the Diasfora Signature competition. Anyone with an entry still to submit should submit it post-haste.
If anyone needs a little more time to add finishing touches to an entry then speak up and I'm sure we could extend the deadline for a day or two.

a few little tweaks would be nice, like the ape seems to have developed a stiff (static) left arm.   I would like to make more of a delay also in the loop.

Be careful of your filesize ABC as although your original 'sparky' sig is under 1mb, the one in your profile that has some easing in the animation is a whopping 3.7mb. You may need to compress it with a gif optimizer rather than AE?

I'm assuming all tinkering is just about done? Just in case another day or so is needed, the closing date for this competition will be this Tuesday (27th).  :)
