Title: SANDWICH PROCEDURE ALPHA
Post by: 8ullfrog on January 16, 2011, 05:50:59 AM
Place two slices bread on plate open face.
Add 2.5 ounces meat.
Add slice of cheese.
Add vegetables of choice.

On second slice add

Mayonnaise
Mustard
Salt
Pepper
Oil
Vinegar.

Combine slices of bread with contents INSIDE.

Slice diagonally (it makes the sandwich better)

Serve.

(vegetable order is open to interpretation, if you want exact instructions post back.)

There was a period here when cutting your sandwich diagonally was considered effeminate.

Which was fine if you were a woman of course.

Personally I cut them lengthways so both sides are identical, which eliminates the crusty/less crusty dilemma for me.

Non femme way?  Does that mean horizontally?

I like to cut it straight so that it's easier to dip into my tea.

I do have great abs :)

My sandwich procedure alpha is a sandwich filled with cucumbers and a little tomato.  The cucumbers are most important, they go well with butter.  I prefer to use Clover (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clover_(spread)) as my spread.  If I'm feeling crazy, I would add some marmalade or jam/jelly.  Cucumbers are so tasty, sometimes I cry just thinking about it :'(.

I've not ever thought about adding salt or oil into my sandwich, it's never really occurred to me, but pepper does help when I'm feeling especially dangerous.

Necromancy. In Captain Marvel it is revealed that Nick Fury can not eat a sandwich if it is cut diagonally.

FASCIST, I say.

My father used to say that if you blunt cut the sandwich (not diagonally), it ruined the flavor.

I've never understood the crust cutting off thing. Like, where does that even come from?

However, I do remember customers screaming whenever we ran out of the stupid smuckers hot pockets, or as they were actually named "Uncrustables". Like seriously? That's the only thing your little poo will eat? Like I won't eat fish because I puke, and I don't like mushrooms ever, but I can't understand that level of picky eater, or how it is tolerated.

Then again, I come from a family where you eat it or you get hit in the head, so maybe that shapes my perception.

A friend of mine said that her mother encouraged her to eat the crusts on the grounds that it would "help her sing better."

Whatever works.

My life may have lacked "childhood magic" or whatever, but I'm very thankful my parents never pulled crap like that six.

I mean seriously, how would that EVER work? "Maybe you'll get extreme ergot poisoning and your whacked out screams will score you a music contract?"

I have a great dentist.  He says he regularly sees patients who have cracked teeth eating crusty French bread and the like, so, eating crust could mean a trip to the dentist.  I never much liked the crusts of white bread.  I ate a lot of that when I was growing up.  The whole Wonder Bread years thing was big in my generation:  pb&j or baloney, who knew what kinds of vile stuff got put in bread.  But the crusts were never anything but ugly dry and bitter spongy brown stuff.  Now that I live near a good french bakery, I'm happy to eat the crusts, but that was then and now is now.

Never really understood the need to cut a sandwich at all, in fact I kind of prefer it whole.

I like biting in to that narrow wedge.  Works for sandwiches, cheesecake, pie, etc.  Like there's something magically concentrated about the vertex of an acute triangle.

You prefer eating the heart of the sandwich first, I can respect that.

Well, I guess by cutting my pies in quarters I've been missing out  ;D
