Hey! I used to love Elite. I could dock my ship with my eyes closed.
I'm in for a tenner.

Hey. I actually wanted to give that some cash... don't do that anymore.

Oh, I was just thinking about Elite and Frontier earlier this week. I'm pretty sure the CD is still it the wardrobe in the shed.
I was terrible at it. Crashed every time. By the Gods, I was patient.

I don't recall a mac version.
I don't think macs met the machine requirements.

I've chipped in.
My highest rank was Deadly.
The Spectrum version had this stupid prism thing to unscramble an activation code that came up on screen every time you loaded it, that was annoying, harder to get right than the docking.

I bet if I looked hard enough, I'd find the wads of paper I used to list which planets did the best deals for what goods I could obtain easily. Thinking back I can't believe how much time and effort I put into such a simple game (graphically speaking). Nowadays when I play something, which invariably has wonderfully rich graphics and gameplay, I don't give it 5 minutes before I grab a walkthrough and just play through it.
There was a lot to be said for the days before the intarwebz.

I'm old enough to have thought that Commodore 64 was awe inspiring. ::)

I loved my Commodore 64 and Defender of the Crown, and still play that original version occasionally on a GBA. I am still waiting for a stable version of Sinbad for the Commodore.
Any day now...
