Title: Stabbing Beer? Seems like a very dangerous gimick.
Post by: 8ullfrog on November 13, 2012, 06:47:48 PM
So my social circle is bless'ed sick of Budweiser, and no one wanted to kick in for decent beer.

Miller Lite was suggested, and I had completely forgotten how much I hate Miller Lite.

So I deliver the case, open the can, and start drinking. And remember my previous opinion on Miller Lite, D'oh!

A friend inspected his can and asked eloquently "What's this punch top poo?"

So I pulled out my phone and googled punch top can. The new Gimmick from the people who brought you the tornado bottle and the bottle shaped wide mouth can (Also known as a can.)

Comes stabbing beer. Really. It's designed to help you chug and charge or some such poo.

So we stabbed one, and discovered you're supposed to open it before stabbing. Whoops.

So we went back to our lab in geneva and did a proper opening, followed by stabbing.

Beer tastes exactly the bless'ed same, but adds the risk of serious injury, while you're drinking. BRILLIANT!

Ever wonder what the pointy part on a can opener was for? Now you know!

Yeah, but they tell you to improvise in the commercial, it's hilarious on youtube.

I have to agree with 8ullfrog here.  In the video, they show people popping it with any old thing (I remember a key) but of the Miller drinkers I know, and the amount of them they usually drink it one setting, yeah, it can't be safe.

Who wants to drink safely?

If drinking doesn't involve sharp objects, fire and a heavily armed tranny then you are doing it wrong.

pop the top with a can opener and quickly drink before air gets in.

I usually just chew the tops off my beer cans. That way I'm never drinking on an empty stomach.

Maybe Aelthric can call his Rum "Responsibly" when he goes into mass scale manufacturing.  That way he'll get tons of free advertising from all the public health adverts and billboards.

The commercials don't show one of those can openers, and even using one of them to open the damn thing is difficult, you have to slam it down hard or it just bounces off.

I usually have a knife on me. Can opener? not so much.

Bounces off? Are you throwing it from a distance?

Next thing you know you'll have bottles you can smash open.

I once saw a guy crush a beer can against his thingie during a show.  Wonder if it was a trick.

here's how to do what we called a shotgun. lie the can on its side, and on the side of the can, at the bottom, punch in 2 V's beside each other with the v shaped can opener and bend in the remaining v in the middle between the 2 holes, suck the air out of the hole, tip the beer straight up with your mouth still on the hole not letting air in, then pull the tab to open, the beer shoots down your throat through the V hole unbelievably fast.

Through the v hole and down your throat aye?  Well alright then.
I've personally not shotgunned a beer in ages, I'm for it!

Beside that comment townie, that all seems very difficult, if it's not too much to ask, you prep it, and I'll drink it. k?

If the aim is to get alcohol into your system quickly, wouldn't it be easier to just have a shot or two of scotch?

I could understand shots of vodka or tequila but scotch, brandy or rum? No, It'd be a sin not to enjoy those.

The ladies here already have my heart, but they don't have a rat's chance in hell of getting their hands on my booze.

I do like beer bongs.  It's true, and kegs, and all that nonsense.  Scotch is better, ladies ;).

I can't tolerate alcohol straight anymore.  A whiff of the alcohol and my tummy literally heaves from acid.  I like cocktails.

I am pretty close to being there too Sub.  I tried "Swing" though, and realized there were still some alcohols out there I would sip.  I would like to try a good scotch.
