Title: Rain
Post by: Alfonz on May 04, 2017, 05:59:37 PM
Can't remember having this much rain in April and May, lots of local flooding, basements full of water, and roads washed out. It's been raining heavily all day again and isn't supposed to stop until Sunday afternoon. Getting kinda depressing.

It's getting worse now, mudslides causing road closures, water front homes being evacuated.

April in the U.K is historically the rainy month. However, this year I think we saw about 45% of the average for the month and all I can say is, it has to go somewhere (wink wink).

Thanks  :D, glad you're having an above average spring. Looks like the rain has let up for now, hopefully that will be the end of the downpours for a bit.

Odds are, one of us just jinxed it. Possibly both of us.

Didn't check the roof the other day and the drain was clogged eith those long clump leaves from the trees. Water came all through the house .which sucked nuts.

I hear ya, now that the rain has ended and the sun has returned, with it came high pressure cold. We had a frost warning this morning and the temp was 34F, 20 degrees below normal for this time of year.

It's the dry season here.  We could do with a little rain.  It would make weeding easier and the plants would enjoy it.

Yes, it has been fine for a day or two but early to midweek it was horrendous.

It seems we have rain-tennis.

Got a good chuckle out of that, I feel the same. It's hot and humid, the weather network keeps sending alerts for "chances of severe thunderstorms" but we don't get a drop.

Today the beeb's weather widget was saying it was 22-23 degrees when it felt no different from last week when it was in the 30s?

Something ain't right.

Rain is imminent, apparently.

We could use some rain.  The hills are brown.  I have to water everything.  Water is pretty expensive.

We can't seem to have more than a day or two of sunshine before another day of storms rolls through. Lots of local flooding going on.

The window and french doors I installed this week are not yet sealed. If it rains now things will get a little soggy on site.

Yep, I deliberately tempted fate.

Is that because you don't want to be at the festival?  :)

No, love festival but this heat and lack of air is really oppressive.

Saying that, I have to fit 2 Velux windows in a felt roof this week and rain would really scupper the schedule.

Now it will rain, right?

Bloody rain and storms put my scaffolders back 3 days.

I hate delays as they become exponential.

It's back! 4 or 5 days of off and on rain with gray skies. I start another 3 weeks of holidays this Friday, hoping for sunshine.

It's proper shite here - reminiscent of winter.

It took my scaffolders twice as long to complete one of my jobs and the roofers are totally awol.

The downpour here in London in the middle of the night was a "hail Mary mother of God" event.

More rain on it's way ... again! I've been waiting for a couple of dry day when I can re-ply and fiberglass a flat roof. So far the only 2 dry days we've had back to back, has been this weekend.

That's perfect for most, I suppose.

The weather has been really quiet down here in the smoke of late. Rain, of course, but not so you'd notice.

Now I've said those magic words we'll have a monsoon this week.

NECROMANCY!

Got woke up by rain coming through the window next to my bed. Not open, not cracked, it's coming through the damned frame.

Gonna rotate the bed 90 degrees in the room to avoid the feckin' splash zone, but that's not a fun way to wake.

Blanket was soaked on the outside, but it's so thick I got woke by rain on my face.

poo. I rent and we already reported a window problem. A madam punched one out.

I really don't want to be the squeaky wheel. Already moved everything to new spots.

Eh, it doesn't rain much. Maybe I'll get a respite and can report it in 2019?
