Old El Paso bent me again.

Made a perfectly normal tray of nachos, visually. Used old el paso fat free beans. Big mistake.

No bless'ed flavor whatsoever, it's like I mixed paste into perfectly fine nachos.

The previous time they disappointed me was with a similar flyover state enchilada sauce.

They can go golly ohio, I'll never buy their poo again.

I can hear bourdain mocking me from beyond.

Tea and muffin.  It's morning again.  The crows are outside making a fuss over something.

Ha! I think I'm coming down with an attack of accismus!

Today's word:
Mereswine
a dolphin/porpoise

Sea pig, eh?  It brings to mind this wonderful drinking vessel.  Dionysus turns pirates into sea pigs.  They got up in his grill and he didn't like it.

Today's word:
Accismus:
a feigned lack of interest in something while actually desiring it.
an affected or false refusal/coyness.
Example:  The fox's dismissal of the grapes in Aesop's fable of the fox and the grapes is an example of accismus.
It also leads to such hipster comments as "you know you want it..."

Sound like me at Xmas  8) ;D

Thanks for that fun link, goldie!

In any situation where "rumbustious" would apply, I would use "rambunctious". I am - I humbly admit - unaware of the difference between the two.

Maybe if you had consumed a large quantity of rum, the former might seem more apt.  I'd not encountered that word until yesterday.  I had to look it up.  I think it was in some essay on Nordic sagas or a related rabbithole that led me to it.

We go to Subway when that's the only thing available.  Like when we are driving on an interstate and that's all we can find on the highway.  I usually get a turkey sandwich so I can't speak to their subs.  It's acceptable but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.  Chipotle is good but kind of pricey.  I usually get a bowl with all kinds of nice addons and it lasts me for 2-3 meals, so I guess it works out, pricewise.  We don't eat there much due to the cost.

Beyond Burger is among the best of the fake meat burgers and it's not particularly cheap.  They use pea protein.  One of those makes for a hearty lunch.  We generally buy them on sale and eat them at home on a toasted English muffin (don't laugh) with barbeque sauce.  I've never ordered one at a restaurant, but I don't eat out much.

Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to put together a vegetable stir fry with tofu.  I'm going to toss the tofu with soy sauce and corn starch and cook it separately then stir fry the vegs and add back with some kind of sauce.  I really have no clue what I'm doing.  Maybe I should watch some youtube videos.  I don't mind eating tofu but I'm not particularly skilled or knowledgable about how to prepare it.

I also find it weird they covered up the glass windows so people don't say "let me get some of that"
They want you to order using their numbers system. I haven't been in a subway for 15 years. I think I'd rather go to an independent shop than jump through those hoops.

It also brings to mind the chipotle "half scoop" scandal where online orders were getting half scoops. The CFO said "No, they're getting 'Correct' portions, and people in store 'bully' the staff into giving them more scoops."

I think I went to Chipotle once, and was unimpressed with the food AND the pricing.

I just checked out the subway reddit, WOW they are miserable. Owners and employees getting squeezed by corporate. And Subway Canada discontinued yellow mustard!

I do find it amusing that subway's marketing is now "We're not garbage!"
So much for "eat fresh" eh?

Today I blew my caloric intake severely, I got the Carl's Jr Beyond Famous Star, and a Big Hamburger.

I figured the big hamburger was just marketing, but it was in fact, very large. I should have asked for a kids meal hamburger. instead.

The Beyond famous star was intriguing. I specifically made this order because I heard the Beyond company is circling the drain and may not be long for this world.

The burger was certainly more expensive than a regular burger, and visibly, you can tell it's not real meat. Texturally and taste wise? I couldn't tell the difference.

With the Impossible whopper, you know that you're eating soy. The burger is savory, and goes a good way towards tasting like meat, but doesn't quite pull it off. Beyond does.

I don't think I'd like to make it a regular part of my diet though. It's definitely a stunt burger.

The big hamburger was five dollars, the Beyond famous star was eight dollars, twenty cents. I don't like breaking double digits for a lunch, but I figure I'll skip dinner tonight.

Both burgers had the usual accruements, pickle slices, onion slices. The Beyond burger had a leaf of iceberg, but that's not anything to write home about. The onions are fresh as opposed to dehydrated, so that was nice.

So as a stunt, I'd say the beyond burger fits the bill, but for a regular lunch option, too rich for my blood.
