British political cartoons can be as dull as the subject matter.  I don't think you could make one whole "personality" out of all the fragments that British politicians possess.

Don't put off until tomorrow, what you can put off until the day after.

@Jhb: Nice getting a Tom Toles 'toon in ther, I've always liked his stuff...

@cheapy: Clay Bennett and Steve Sack are two of my very favorite single-panel political cartoonists...

@Smokes: The Brit 'toons can be hysterical when compared to the ones that come out of Eastern Europe, the Middle East or even Canada which are so obscure sometimes I have no idea what the cartoonist is even getting at...  :D

In times gone by I agree, just look at what fun Spitting image had with British MPs.  But nowadays there isn't a character left on the front benches, and even William Hague is now wheeled out for comments when the need arises.  I could never understand his manner of speaking when he was party leader, let alone now he is not reading from a script.

Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has announced the largest annual loss in UK corporate history and is to receive a further ?13bn of taxpayers' cash.

RBS said that its 2008 loss totalled ?24.1bn ($34.2bn).

RBS is under heavy criticism after the BBC learnt that Sir Fred Goodwin, the bank's former chief executive, is already drawing a pension of ?650,000 a year for life, despite only being 50 yrs old.

@dweez: I can't do that to frank...

Other than in this one cartoon, Billy Mays is a tool.

@indie: I've been hearing little bits about the collapse of the banking system over there, well and everywhere really. Isn't it awesome how the one solution that seems to be settled upon in all instances is to give public money to the crooks who're tanking the system and have already themselves profited handsomely from their 'bungling' of the books?

These next 2 toons kind of illustrate the point - I also like the similar wavelength the two artists had:

Love the fact that some Yankees have the ability to blame all the current problems
on the current president, and not hold the last president even a little bit responsible...

While I'm no fan of Michael Cummings, I do own this picture and, in light of recent events, thought it reasonable to express disgust at the Russian way of doing things:

Currently reading Dr. Zhivago, set during WW1 & the Russian Civil War.  At this point, Ukraine has been ceded to the Germans (it's been quite the territorial football, historically).  The cities and countryside are alternatively governed by roving groups of armies (read armed thugs).  Whites, Reds, Greens, and the poor inhabitants of remote villages don't know what to think but are hanging on by fingernails.  This youtube channel makes clear how little information actually reaches this part of the population.  Must "defend the Motherland." right?  Against whom?  Well, that's a question that is just too hard to answer.  The politicians know, and that's all that counts.

Love political satire, when done well. Religious is another matter  :-\ :-\

Have watched the movie Zhivago, never attempted the book, Attention span of a goldfish nowadays

A lot of Political memes around atm which although funny dont seem to have that class/impact of a well drawn cartoon.

So all the 4 linked images in Jack's original post are dead, so a Ukrainian flag with the words "no war" is displayed? If you visited the links individually, they just go to the imageshack main site.

Interesting how they do that.
