Yeah, often with the omission of smileys, people tend to take everything as serious and a personal offense...:D

Sometimes it can be fun when they do..
Don't put off until tomorrow, what you can put off until the day after.

There is an exception to every rule, apart from this one.

I like to watch flaming and bashing and thread derailing from the sidelines, Coke in one hand, popcorn bucket in my lap.

And all because of a missed smiley.

Yup.

... but equally obscenity, racism, etc. doesn't become funny because of the smiley. I have lost count of the number of people that have said something ridiculously offensive with a "grin" at the end, and then have gotten all bent out of shape when people took offence.

I take the risk. If you need to envisage a smiley in my text, or a sarcasm tag, feel free to imagine their existence.

(but if you imagine a sarcasm tag, please don't forget to imagine the /sarcasm tag as well - I got stuck like that for months, once)

Guess you both thought it was funny when your moms warned you about what could happen to you if you did that!

Duckspeak

And I quote:
"Duckspeak is a Newspeak term meaning literally to quack like a duck or to speak without thinking. Duckspeak can be either good or "ungood" (bad), depending on who is speaking, and whether what they are saying is in following with the ideals of Big Brother. To speak rubbish and lies may be ungood, but to speak rubbish and lies for the good of "The Party" may be good."

Vladimir: That's what you think.

An old boyfriend gave me a duck call as a gift once.  I loved it.  I still have it in storage somewhere.

And I do miss frankcapri.  Too bad he's off in the world of parenting...

A little part of me died today.

I just got an email from my mom.  In said email, she used the acronym "LOL".
This is the first time she has used this (or any emotive acronym) in an email to me.

She just recently started to use text messaging on her cell phone.
Before, her emails were the picture of grammatical perfection  :'(

After time, I know believe his mom was using LOL as an abbreviation (acronym really) for "Lots of Love".  I've seen LOL used a few places incorrectly like this.

It's pretty weird when you find yourself responding in nearly complete sentences of single letters.

Bifil that in that seson on a day,
In southwerk at the tabard as I lay
Redy to wenden on my pilgrymage
To caunterbury with ful devout corage,
At nyght was come into that hostelrye
Wel nyne and twenty in a compaignye,
Of sondry folk, by aventure yfalle
In felaweshipe, and pilgrimes were they alle,
That toward caunterbury wolden ryde.
The chambres and the stables weren wyde,
And wel we weren esed atte beste.
And shortly, whan the sonne was to reste,
So hadde I spoken with hem everichon
That I was of hir felaweshipe anon,
And made forward erly for to ryse,
To take oure wey ther as I yow devyse.
