Quote
"One of the maintenance crew in the studio had a bicycle and so I took it and rode up to the schoolyard.
I just watched the children play. When I came back I was ready to rule the world.
I went into the studio and I turned them songs out."

If this wasn't about Michael Jackson, I wouldn't have believed it  :D

Well, yeah.  It's disturbing to think that one of the greatest pop records ever recorded
happened because the singer was "inspired" by little kids playing on a playground.

The whole deal is surreal. Especailly if you imagine the quote in your head in his voice. I tried to avoid watching most the coverage when he died.. but I accidentally caught a couple of snippets from the interviews. His demeanor.. the stuff he said in interviews.. I keep trying to grasp the 'vibe' the interviews gave me.. the best I can come up with is 'detached'.

I always thought "Thriller" was overrated. And I thought that even before I found out Jackson was a paedophile.

The most disturbing part of the article is this bit.

"One of the maintenance crew in the studio had a bicycle and so I took it and rode up to the schoolyard.

He wasn't just passing by the schoolyard and decided to sit and watch the kids play, he borrowed a bike to get to the schoolyard.

He could have only have been 23 -24 at the time, wasn't that a long time before any of the trouble started?

True, but at least it didn't affect the "Off the wall" album.

Personally I think that was MJ's best work outside of the Jackson 5.

I flip flop between Off the Wall and Thriller.  I will say that Off the Wall is a better party album  :)

I thought that the Thriller album had really moved away from the souly/R'n'B/Disco that I loved off the wall for, and had become true "Pop" that appealed to anyone and everyone - or not as the case may be as I was never that keen on the Thriller album even though my sister adored it.  I have held Quincy Jones in the highest regard however.
