I pretty much concur with Goldshirt, however, I use DVD2one to compress them.
Don't put off until tomorrow, what you can put off until the day after.

On my comp it takes from between 12 and 15mins to reduce it and you have the option of stripping the menu and trailers (which is handy with some of those that force you to watch 'em), and you have good control over the quality/bitrate/filesize as you may need to.  The whole process takes me about 30 - 40mins from start to end.

AnyDVD + CloneDVD2 usually works for me.  I've only done it two times, but it worked flawlessly both times  ;D
Size, it doesn't matter to me so long as I get it...Gotta go now.

When I first seen this thread, I wasn't sure about it as per rule #9. No discussions about warez or torrents.

So I pm'd HD

I use CloneDVD or DVD Shrink. I also have AnyDvd installed.(No conflict)

Talking about what software you use implies nothing about how you acquired it.  As well, I'm sure everyone here only uses said software within the limits of the Copyright - Fair Use clause.

Absolutley, and I also only rip DVDs for back up purposes only, using DVDs that I own and have bought from commercial outlets.

I use DVD decrypter if I want to copy the whole thing to the hard drive.

I've not copied DVDs before, but I have a friend that uses AnyDVD with CloneDVD to backup the DVDs he doesn't want to wear out.  From what I've seen, it looks very user friendly.

Now Zoidberg is the popular one!

as your child gets older and decides to start watching movies you become quite a expert in " backing " up your dvd collection.
its amazing how the discs just stop working and it wasn't me who engraved / drew / played frisbee with them  :D :D :D :D

My daughter likes standing on a couple and skating on the laminate floor - and she always has the data side facing down!!!

I say in all honesty, that I do not know of anyone tough enough to mess with my daughter.  I am contantly fighting a losing battle with her although it is fantastic as a father to see his little girl tougher than him.

My poor son though.. that's the reason I am doing this work: so he can have a bigger bedroom that has anti-sister security..

So the whole "actions have consequences" theory doesnt work on her? Shes 3 now? Lets just hope it passes before school starts. I mean, actual, sit down pay attention type classes. Ooohhhh like Daddy like Daughter, I can see it from here.  ;D

DVDFab Platinum works nicely for me, occasionally I will rip with DVD Decryptor. Its  old but still does the job on most encryption.

I have found with a lot of S/W that new version's are not always better.  :-\
