Beck's Record Club
« on: August 06, 2009, 01:42:09 PM »
Posted this over on Demonoid.  Thought I'd share here as well  :)

It's a really cool concept. Beck and some friends get together for a day and
record a cover version of a whole album.  Every week a song and video are released
on his website.

Currently, The Velvet Underground & Nico is the album

Here's a link

I think Run, Run, Run and Sunday Morning are particularly well done.

Whatever the case, if you're a fan of either VU or Beck, it's worth checking out
Size, it doesn't matter to me so long as I get it...Gotta go now.

There's definitely some clunkers, but I suppose they all can't be winners when you're recording an album in a day.
I like in some of the videos that he's reading the lyrics as he sings them  :D

No, I totally agree. Just the endeavor itself is cool, and some sound good. And.. I'm not even meaning that they 'sound good' in the sense that they have to sound like the orginal. I imagine even if I was in a band and doing the same.. if we did one that sounded horrid... I'd even say 'wow, that blew' :D

The comments are also funny and interesting.

And it's cool to hear so mnay songs covered. It's a  step beyond Louie Louie that most bands never venture ;D

* I listened to them all now. The only one that still bugs me is There She Goes. Otherwise they're all pretty cool.
