« on: December 27, 2009, 01:53:24 AM »
as the title say's i'm after a program that hides my IP address.
this is not for torrenting
but i have had a few people send me links to tv / movie clips from abroad , which i can only assume come from the the USA and i get a blank screen and the writing
sorry we are not allowed to show this content in your country
i assume rightly or wrongly that its my country IP address that prevents me watching the clips.
my friend watches American tv shows but won't divulge the prog. ( biatch)

Proxies don't always work, take Show Time's website. Tried to watch the Dexter's season final interview, tried various proxies, the script always sees through them.

Totally depends on the service. The method it uses to transfer/transmit the data.

This post is only useful for the BBC stations :(

When I want to download Woman's Hour, I use this iPLayer downloader.  The Windows GUI version doesn't have many options, but it'd save the iPlayer episode to either MP3 or MOV.

If you need more options, such as realtime recording, you could try using get_iplayer, but it requires some learning.  The Web PVR thing makes it easier, but I've not used it.

There are a few ways to go about it but I'm not entirely sure what you want to do exactly.  Here is some reading though that should point you in the right direction.
Don't put off until tomorrow, what you can put off until the day after.

There is an exception to every rule, apart from this one.

how in hell do i get this linux to run.
pc spec

AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 250 Processor
x86 Family 16 Model 6 Stepping 2
3000 MHz
Motherboard Vendor:  BIOSTAR Group Motherboard Model:  GF8200C M2+
Videocard Name:  NVIDIA GeForce 8200
Installed Memory:  1,791.17 MB (about to add 2gb more)

http://pclinuxos.com/?page_id=180
i have burned to a maxwell cd at 8 / 10 speed about 10 times and it just wont run.
have used Imgburn / brasero .
will load at start up but will not run as a live cd.
and therefore not install

keep getting a error

no suitable media found for the lice cd content found
workaround :copy the content of the livecd from your boot device to ad ide/sa ts disk
dropping you to a limited shell

Loading/initrd/dib/ash

/initrd/bin/ash: can't access tty; job control turned off

i then type exit and all i get is a rolling screen of info that i then have to restart the pc / laptop to re-use.
have run on my desktop pc / work pc ( naughty me) and my laptop and all the same.
anyone any idea.

bingo worked and managed to install

trouble is, i should have taken the problem more seriously when i had the initial trouble trying to use as a live cd. :-\
post install all was ok until reboot and then it froze and i had a half screen black /half blue.
happened more times than not. only occasionally managed to kick into the o/s system.  :-[
worked well when did , nice set up and played all of my ripsand music.
amarok music player was great.

I believe it was a onboard graphic problem as the system comes with lots of available drivers for ati / nvidia
cards and i have onboard nvidia graphics.

i have removed and may try when i have a card or just stick to another linux o/s.

have Mint /Ubuntu on my lappy and find them ok although i did like the KDE desktop
