Since there isn't currently a topic I'll start one:

High expectations of teachers in hard classes.

I have to learn the entire Geological Time Scale for a quiz on thursday. Also, I have to know the major events that occurred in each period... This is for a Biology class.

That's a lot of stuff to remember.  How much time did he/she give you to memorize it all?

2 days. He gave us a chart earlier today, we filled it in, and at the end of class he told us there would be a quiz on the chart on thursday.

This class is reputedly one of the hardest offered at my school. People who get As their entire life take this class and get a B.

Damn that's tough.  Even if a person had prior exposure to those periods in other classes,
remembering them all with details in 2 days sounds pretty overwhelming. 

I think that certain teachers like to be hard asses because they believe that being
that way will help students learn better.  I'm not saying there isn't any truth to this
ideology, but some teachers take it too far.

Yes, but this class has an insane amount of information that has to be learned in 16 weeks.

Its called "Plant and Animal Biology," which is a very broad range of topics, and a lot of information.

The teacher is actually really cool, and pretty funny. Its the class that is hard, not the teacher.

Is it a general biology class or did it have pre-req's?  (I'm assuming you're in college)

The pre-req is General Biology, which wasn't nearly as hard as this class is.
And on top of this class, im taking Calculus II, and a 2nd semester General Chemistry course. 14 units in 3 classes. 3 hard classes....

Those are 3 heavy hitters to be taking all at once.  My hat is off to you.

The only help I can offer up is perhaps grabbing a copy of this album. 
Might help with the early stuff, and it's some pretty decent metal as well

How about some things we do to distract ourselves from things we should be doing.

Personally I go on Diasfora to keep from learning the Geological Time Scale.

I am also posting and reading things, but I'm doing it to avoid going to bed.

I considered those on topic since I intended the topic to encompass the classes/teachers/assignments, so i figured it as neither of us went of topic. 

When I was taking winter classes, I took my laptop to class, and instead of paying attention in lecture, i would go on Diasfora, and play games at TopGear.com.
