Chili and air

Having emigrated to Canada in 1958 (from Germany) as a wee lad and been exposed to British education and cultural morays, I've always been partial to vinegar on my chips (i.e. French Fries). Lacking vinegar, I'll settle for mustard and watch the American's eyes roll in restaurants as I applied said to the fries.

My Polish friends are confused to the point of being angry about we Brits putting vinegar on our chips. They say this while serving 90% of their side dishes with finely chopped egg - and some of those egg dishes contain vinegar, no less.

You should just stick to Poutine: one of life's great delicacies.

I worry what they poutine it.

That was LOL-worthy.

Poutine is so popular here Burger King and McDonalds now sell it......did i mention the heart attack and obesity rates here?  ;D
two food comments to note, both rough camping many, many years ago: first one, we took enough beer to sink a ship, but all we took for food for 3 days was peanut butter, cheez whiz, and bread....i'd never had peanut butter and cheez whiz (mixed together) sandwiches before, or since.
another time, rough camping at the same beach, a buddy was making a beer run, friend and i asked him to grab us a steak each at the local town store (this time we had a portable bbq), while bbqing the steaks, we realized we had no salt, and being salt-aholics, how could we eat steak with no salt? we kept drizzling sea water on them as they cooked  ;D

I'm definitely with your Polish friends! I find mayo or ketchup with chips/fries disgusting too. I guess people do anything to make fast-food (frozen) fries more palatable.  :D

LOL. Did they turn out good?

Bear in mind that British chips are not french fries. They are big, chunky things that require a little help to get down.  Vinegar serves the purpose well, in fact, far better than ketchup or mayo.

Right! Here, both home made and restaurant chips look like British chips too. I imagine fast-food chain restaurant fries look and taste the same everywhere.

This is the standard and we also have a choice of onion vinegar for those with a more sophisticated palate:
