Spock's gone!
« on: February 27, 2015, 10:57:48 AM »
I have just heard the news that Leonard Nimoy had passed away at the age of 83 (about 400 in Vulcan years).

He will be sadly missed in my household as I still watched Star Trek TOS with my son.

This time I don't think there's any chance he's coming back.

Rest in peace, Leonard/Spock.

I went to IMDb to look for a movie and found out about the sad news.
Spock was my favorite character from Star Trek. I'm not one of those crazily devoted fans of the series but I certainly used to watch it when I was young.
[ot]The movie ended in 181 btw.  :)[/ot]

I'm about the same age as Star Trek and have lived with it constantly throughout my life.  It is more than just a TV show to me; it's various shows instantly take me back to the time they were shown.

Spock was by far my favourite character in any of the ST incarnations.

Rest in peace.
He (along with Star Trek) was a positive note for my generation.

smoke and t's words ring very true to me as well.  I'm not a "trekkie" by any stretch of the imagination but Star Trek had an impact on every one "of a certain age", whether it fed to our hope of something beyond the toils of today or just to make fun of Shatner's inflection and toupe (Bill is the Man, btw).  I found I was more excited than I thought I would be when Mr. Nimoy recanted on his promise to never do anything Trek-related again and made his appearance in the new Star Trek reboot.

It truly is a sad day.
