Got another email now saying the part they need won't arrive until the 2nd of Feb, then a few minutes ago I had parcel force here to pick it up?

It isn't really going that well for Asus.  I am now convinced that they are a company that should be steered clear of (sod the preposition).

Firstly their hardware failed almost immediately, then they can't seem to get the parts to have it repaired or even have their system keep track of it.

The word "farcical" comes to mind.

Got another email saying the part is arriving tomorrow (again), but I wouldn't be surprised if it was sent in error...

Now no emails, no computer, no nada.

Lucky my son has a back up as his old laptop should have been his mother's by now. Justifies him dragging his feet getting it ready for her.

I vaguely remember something about 10 working days when organising pick-up, but that deadline past a fortnight ago.

The worst case scenario email said the part would be there tomorrow, so I'm hoping that's somewhere near being correct.

I wouldn't put money on it, though.

Got the computer back today which is well over a month from when it was despatched.

The screen error has been fixed (new screen was needed) and they did some other bits and bobs that I wasn't aware were faulty. I'm not complaining about the extra work, but considering the unit is almost new you'd have thought the components would last more than a few months.

The big issue is that they wiped the HDD.

Why did they do that?

I don't believe it's new as it still has the same partition - it's just wiped.

I shouldn't grumble too much as it's working well, but I think I'll ask for an extension on the warranty considering how long they had it.

I think I'll let it slide unless it breaks in the month following the warranty expiry.

I bet I just tempted fate.
