I really can't believe we've been up for 8 years. But, it's true. It's almost like we are in sync with Obama. Perhaps he could join now he has little better to do.

Anyhow, many thanks to everybody for being here, and special thanks to dweezil, XT, Skadi, Jackfrost, CMF and indie (and of course, binkles) for keeping us functioning.

Wow, 8 years. Thanks to everyone for making this a great, safe haven to come to and vent, chat, play forum games, or just ramble on. Thanks to smokester for making this happen (oh, and footing the bill too). It's been a great ride with only more highway to go.

This is officially my longest, non-family relationship now. (I know...sad, right?)

If I didn't have this place I doubt I'd be on the intarwebz at all. When there are no new posts I don't know what to do. Thankfully, I have other stuff to do in real life otherwise I'd just be overweight and balding......... No wait!

Interestingly, a few days ago it was our 11th anniversary. I missed it again as I always plan to do something to mark the occasion but before I know it, it's whizzed past.

Maybe next year.

Thank you for providing this space smokes, it's helped me a lot. I've said stuff here I can't tell my psychologist. It's an element of freedom and expression this facebook world does not provide.

As much as I miss the old Demo fora, this place has been an incredible haven, even if I've occasionally called it an airport lounge.

I'm happy to be here, and thankful for the privilege.

11 years is some stint. My daughter was 2 (nearly 3) and sweet and now she's 13 and... 13. My son was 6 and sweet and now he's 17 and... bearded.

That's pretty amazing. Congrats.

I checked and see that I registered in 2012, so a little late to the party, but happy to still be here just the same. I joined the Noid in 2006, and am surprised at the enduring friendships I have from that site, mostly because of fora such as this one that arose from downtimes on Noid.

Thanks again, smokes, for all that you do and have done to make sure we still have this place.

For me, this place ticks all my social media obligations (I believe social media is obligative, these days) in one. I don't care how much my daughter thinks I'm a dinosaur, I am communicating with others online so I'm done.

Yup. This and the Jag forum does me.

(My family have still not forgiven me for attending z's wedding - "you are going to the wedding of someone that not only you have never met but you don't even know their name?". This makes me something of a social media hero, without actually using any of the apps that today constitutes social media)
