Earworm of the day
« on: August 02, 2019, 12:51:08 AM »
I started a thread like this before and I thought it was on here, but I suspect it was on the noid fora instead.  Oh well.  What is it that you have running through your head, and probably would rather not have running through your head in the world of music?

Here:  it's not actually a bad song, but it's annoying to have it running through my head when I'd rather think of something else.

That's actually an improvement over the original.  And I haven't been to Starbucks in a while, but that would encourage me to get my food to go.

I'd never heard Old Town Road.  It's pretty fun.  I can imagine it would get old after a while though.

One summer I had a research job where I had to drive all over rural Pennsylvania in a government car and it was low budget, had a crap radio and I remember two things:  Shanaia Twain singing "Feel like a woman" or some such and then when I changed the station it was Nelly singing "Hot in here."  Not much variety and it was that or listening to some deranged rants about Jesus.

There was a surreal wave of what the golly in New Jersey when I was working there. We had to listen to two pop stations, radio was busted otherwise. Theft attempt. Thief did not have a good time.

Anyway, one of the few times I liked my uncle, and of course he had to have some redeeming qualities, was when he over enunciated Kesha.

"This place is going to explode".  I mean, even Tony Soprano had likable moments, otherwise we would have stopped watching the show.

But I remember at the same time, that "happy moment" with my uncle on some shitty turnpike, I was also not being paid.

Life is bent that way.

Party rock anthem was also very popular.

So like, imagine the sopranos crew, only in the truck mind, totally jamming out to pop.

Wow. That's one lame video, except for the part where the guy pulls the bra out from under his shirt.  I can imagine it was comedy gold to have your uncle singing that, though.  Kind of like the time my dead departed father started singing Disco Inferno along with the Trammps.  I think Keesha could benefit from hanging with the K Pop producers who would most likely improve the props.

James Van der beek. Surprisingly good sport. He were Dawson in the creek.

Kesha certainly couldn't do worse than the producer she was stuck with. Holy crap is that a nightmare story.

Oh, I should contribute:

Well, thanks for the earworm, chris.

I found this entertaining mashup on youtube today.  That was after I listened to the Nine Inch Nails piece that Lil Nas X is getting sued for lifting.  That.  And that's Diplo on washboard.  For a moment, I thought it looked like Brad Pitt, but no.

Which NIN song did he rip? Trent's pretty good about letting people sample. He also allowed the Limp Bizkit song that used lyrics from Closer, but called it horrible.

He later posted drunken emails he received from Fred Durst (Limp bizkit yeller and rapper) about it. Funny stuff.

Hell, he gave full permission for black mirror to completely reimagine his stuff as pop!

Ghosts IV.  I think they gave Trent credit on the recording.

The introductory riff is what Lil Nas X lifted, although if I understand it, he actually paid for rights from some sampling site, but I guess it wasn't cleared with Sony records or something.

Duran Duran.  New Moon on Monday.

I miss the 1980's music.  That.  And Rick Ocasek died today.  The Cars were wonderful.

knownassociate started a thread like this but said she'd borrowed it from the Den so it was probably yours originally. It was this thread that's been dead for an eternity so I've locked it now.

I rarely don't have the George Michael and Mary J Blige version of "As" running through my head. Oddly, this is because I'm addicted to the video?..
