My kids (and now their kids) have their own version - called "squidjy cheese" - cover a tortilla with grated cheddar, spread torn up bits of ham over the cheese, more grated cheddar and another tortilla then microwave the lot for thirty seconds. Cut the runny mess into eight like a pizza, and dig in.

Is there pollution (perhaps some kind of sewer mix into potable water supply) that is causing you to have to boil your water?  When we were on the island, we had to use bottled water to brush teeth with and to cook and rinse vegs with because the other water, the stuff in the cistern (mostly rain water but with frogs living in it) was not potable.  It got to be expensive and we had to be creative with it.  Washing clothes and bathing wasn't such an issue, but drinking it was not a good idea.  We did wash dishes with it but dried them before we ate on them.  It is kind of amazing how much we take clean water for granted as it's not the case in many parts of the world.

I remember the fishless fishing on Stargate.  It was kind of charming.

My quesadillas are more like tacos.  I heat the tortilla in the pan, add grated cheese, black beans, tomatoes, scallions, cilantro and avocado, and let them heat for a little while, then wrap the ends over the center.  So I end up with a cylinder of agreeable tasting goop.  I usually make quite a mess, but they don't contain that much cheese, so I call them that lacking something better to explain them.  I guess "heated wraps" might work?

I'm pretty sure if my dad could have fished sans hooks he would have.
Meanwhile my uncle introduced me to bashing fish head with rock. I'd never seen that, dad was a catch and release kind of guy.

I found it amusing on stargate when O'Neill took the team fishing, then admitted there were no fish in his lake.
It actually got a callback later when they had solved a time conundrum, they're fishing, one of the team complains, and a fish jumps in the air.

Back to meatless, I'm on a water restriction again, and you can't really cook meat in a waterless environment. Boiling water to wash dishes... well we bought paper plates, bowls, and plastic cutlery last time for a reason.

I diced up an onion to make the salads a bit more spicy.

Onions: They aren't meat!

Quesadillas are an exception, you are supposed to cover it end to end with cheese (such as you can with a circle) and then add the goodies as burrito standard. Also, if you're going to make a two tortilla quesadilla, you want it to ooze out, that's part of the charm.

Thanks for the update.  I sent him a PM on here but no response so it's good that he's out having an adventure.

Post a link to the online shop for the socks that you want, and DM me an address.

We should be able to sort the "M&S socks without a transatlantic trip" issue.

That’s really kind of you but my Dad passed away several years ago and my husband is dealing with the US sock supply for now. That said, when he was let loose on M&S on our first trip together to the UK he turned into a veritable clothes horse, which is pretty funny given that he "hates to shop."

TNG and I have nearly the same shoe size and can wear each others shoes if needs be. However, I couldn't wear the socks he wears outside of a sock emergency. They are too thick and too tight and I just feel like I'm going to faint. He, however, swears by them.

I have quite thin black socks (no other colours) and have dozens of pairs of the same brand. I can never find a pair though. There's always one knocking around, but never a pair ...

Many men seem to have issues finding comfortable socks.
My father often complained about the seam that went over his toe being too thick and rubbing against the toe of his shoes.  I used to go to Marks and Spencer to find him socks he liked.  Given this required a transatlantic trip, I didn't get over there much, so this was a major mission for us on travels.

My husband used to order the same good sturdy cotton socks from Gold Toe.  Either the company was sold to a multinational that now wants everything made in China, or they just decided to quit making those cotton ones because they cost too much.  So I've been buying new old stock of these on eBay but they are dwindling in availability.  Now he's switched to a rayon blend, and it was a real job finding those.  I checked stores in Portugal but no luck.

Do you guys have sock issues?  Or is it just my male relatives?
