I paid for some flights to St Lucia in August, then I made my missus a fantastic Indian dinner and served her the flight itinerary as a starter.

She liked all of it I think.

It made up for the lack of a bath and working handbasin. 

So that's it: from the 18th Aug until the 2nd of September, I'm outta here.  Good news is I am staying in a villa with its own pool and wifi so if I'm not here during that time, I'm swimmin'.

My best friend who comes from Abruzzo (Teramo), goes home for 10 days over the summer holidays and it cost nearly 4 times as much to rent accomodation there than it does in St Lucia. I know Italy is in the high season at that time and the Caribbean is in the low, but seriously, Italy is ridiculously expensive these days.

A beautiful Island. Sister got married there.
 I never went though work wouldnt let me have the time off. :(
still we had a fantastic holiday in Switzerland.( not as warm though  ;D ;D)
Parents frequently went to St Lucia, loved it.

You are right about the terribly expensive part, that's why I go abroad when I can, but please no Lira back or we will be worst than Greece, I still remember the gallopping inflation and when you have a really weak currency and you have to buy all your raw materials from abroad everything will be terribly expensive
