Italy is ridiculously expensive these days.

You are right about the terribly expensive part

We had planned a study trip to Italy with some friends. One of them has a contact in Emilia Romagna (no, it wasn't an excuse to go party in Rimini btw). It didn't happen.  :(

I paid for some flights to St Lucia in August

Parents frequently went to St Lucia, loved it.

How is it compared to the rest of the Caribbean? Cheaper? More expensive? Accommodations I mean of course.

The country's motto is "no problem", which just about sums up their attitude and why I love it there.

I'm paying $67.50 (US) a night for the villa BTW.
Don't put off until tomorrow, what you can put off until the day after.

Right now the pound is so weak it could become a lot dearer for me come the summer.  If it bounces back at all against the dollar, I'll have to buy them up in advance of our holiday to keep it cheap.

The mosquitoes are a real pain down there that time of year.  Be sure to buy repellent as dengue fever is an occasional problem.

Yep, and speaking as someone who has reactions to mozzy bites, it is by far the worst thing about travelling for me.

I am a Ninja when it comes to those pests though.

At last we are growing up in the rugby area :), we didn't make the usual meager figure. And more Italians are following rugby now, may be one day, not too far away we'll be able to beat you  ;)

Sergio Parisse is one of the best players in the world, in my opinion.
